Rear wheel well opening. Front is to the right. There will be more clearance when the new shackles are installed. The tire also pushes to the rear (left in the picture) so clearance shouldn't be an issue. Full stuff is not an option with this tire choice though.

Here's a couple shots of the wheels:

Wow lookin so dang shiny. I had the same rims and tires on my old toyota tundra, one thing about those tires is that theay did not last to long on the streets but did awsome offroad

Appreciate all the thumbs up.

It's been awhile since I've updated mostly because I haven't had a ton of time to work on the truck lately.

Stuff that's been completed since last update:
- installed dash, gauges, switches, and wired all gauges and switches.
- wired steering column
- installed new greaseable drag link
- installed, sanded, and painted tie rod with new greasable ends.
- installed bogsen steering joint.

Here's a couple pics of the few things that have been finished:

Truck went in for exhaust today. I will be running stock manifolds, 2.5" stainless pipe, magnaflow cat, flowmaster 50 series delta flow with dual 2" out, and 3" chrome tips dumping out behind tires. Should be done tomorrow. I will upload pics when done. Should have this truck running and driving in the next couple weeks.

Exhaust is finished up. Here are some pictures:

Smexy. Did you go two into y into a flowmaster back to two? Or how is that routed? I notice you only have one flowmaster so im curious

Pics tell the story but it's a magnaflow y 2.5" out into magnaflow cat 2.5" out into flowmaster with dual 2" out. The y is after the crossmember. Pretty sure that the factory joint/y pipe happens right as the pipes meet up as the passenger pipe makes it's final bend towards the rear. Had to stay single muffler with cat due to smog restrictions. Also don't like the unbalanced look of one tailpipe. I am slightly disappointed because the exhaust guy didn't mandrel bend the pipes. I just assumed that he would since he said that they use "all the latest technology". Just another instance of me not asking the right questions before hand even though I knew what I wanted. Another lesson learned.

Ahh forgot about the emission stuff. Here in rural Colorado our national past time is make it louder. Looks clean though. Bet it gives it a nice throaty sound. One good lookin Scout.

So basically since he didnt do mandrel bends you're still gonna get that restricted flow instead of that nice reduced backpressure. Bummer

Boring post but more progress nonetheless. Just more cleaned, sanded, and painted parts. I will be looking to fire the truck up this weekend. If I'm lucky I can take my first ride in it. Excluding steering it onto the flatbed the day I bought it.

I like the attention to the details you have given this build. As I start to prepare to restore my newly aquired Scout I look to builds like yours for inspiration. Great job. I am excited for you as you are so close to putting the rubber to the road.

Thank you very much. Look forward to seeing your build on here in the future.

Started up the truck yesterday. She started up on the first crank which is a good sign that I have wired everything correctly. Engine has already been broken in by the builder. It is running pretty rough at idle. I will need to get it timed, make sure there are no vacuum leaks, and re-seal the upper water tube on the drivers side. It is leaking a bit. The temp gauge went to 250 and it didn't seem that any water was running through the upper radiator hose. I believe this means that my thermostat isn't opening. Other than that all seems well for now.

Sweet. Too bad the temp got up there. Thermastat in backwards? Not un heard of with them being deffective from off the shelf newly purchased. Happened to me once a few years ago. Hope it goes well. Maybe cruise it up here some time. Would love to see it in person

Scooter. I'm thinking the same thing also. Gonna pull the stat and make sure. I'm also afraid the temp sender or gauge May be off so I'm grabbing an ir temp gauge to make sure. I knew my first ever engine install and rewire would have some issues and I'm pleased that there are so few........ So far......... When I get it registered I will definitely come check out your man cave/shop. Thanks for all the compliments so far.

Why yes that is a Scout ornament on my Christmas tree right next to my donner ornament. Thank you johnny lightning!!

Sorry to hear about the leaky troubles. I'm sure it's a little discouraging after all the work you have put into your project. I find taking a day or two break from something like that and do something else unrelated. Kinda helps re-coupe. Hope the kinks get worked out, as to that I would love to see your rig rolling around town on its own power.

Finally got the water tube to seal yesterday. Had the truck running great and then nothing. Ran through a bunch of diagnostics and have come to the conclusion that the old prestolite module has quit on me. Since it is the only "old" part still left in the ignition it makes sense. I already have a pertronix that I will be swapping in.

So for the time being I decided to start sound proofing the interior. I have an acc carpet kit waiting to be installed so now is the perfect time. Here are a couple pics of the sound proofing. I used peel n seal from lowes. I read numerous positive things about it and decided that I just couldn't justify spending $300 on dynamat. I will however end up using dynamat for the top.
