Here is a detail shot of one of the conduits that are installed inside the boxing of the frame, this will make the plumbing and wiring very clean. You can also see one of the cab mounts that is threaded in the frame. I will have to run a tap through all the threads and inserts, the powder guys didn't mask them

Here the windshield frame it has two inches chopped out and I had it powder coated also, sense it will open and close I was concerned that paint would be easily damaged. I already sent the support brackets out for chrome. I still need to come up with a seal and have the windshield cut and installed. I had a chat with the guy I have do all the tint work for me and I am thinking about doing a tint on the windshield. I am not real sure, I don't see driving a lot at night but it would be a little dicey with a dark tint.

Well I am moving along with the hotrod at a good pace. Here I got the front axle installed, well have to fine tune the "hair pins" but the frame and texture look very nice.

Here is a detail of the spring hanger on the front axle. The mount is on the cross member, and has a center mount hole like the mount plates on a parallel leaf set up. You can also see the detail on the mount, very nice metal work, if I do say so myself.

Here is a shot of the motor mounts, these are over the top. Jeff can hook you up with a set, I'm sure if they will stand up to what I put them through rock crawlin then the hotrod will be a walk in the park. You can also see the detail on the powder coat, the hammered finish really hides the age of the frame.

Wow someone is really looking at the build. I wanted to use the older valve covers because (a) there are no baffles (b) they have no stamping other than the ~International~ (c) they also have the four in a row plug wire holder. Bad thing is there are no provision for the oil filler. My plan was to use a push in type breather, however the roller rockers leave no clearance for them. So I opened a hole up in the valley cover where the pcv valve would have been and have a breather installed there, if you look you can see it in this picture just past the rear of the intake manifold. This is where the oil will be serviced. My biggest concern is if there will be enough ventilation, I will be watching this and May have to add some kind of breathers on the valve covers. I really want keep the motor as clean as possible for the hotrod. I really want nonih folks to see the really neat possibilities of using something besides a sbc to power a true hotrod.

Robert, you usually make a statement with all your builds and this is a huge statement. Although I have nothing against using foreign motors in an IH, there is something very pure about what you are doing. I hope you end up bringing that truck up to oregon for the Binder Bee more than any other IH you have.

Drew, I have tried to make it several times to the bee or ihon deal, but running a business and a full time hobby seem to get in the way. My right hand guy ricky pasted away and I have had a very hard time finding a someone to fill his shoes, hell I can't find anyone that comes close. I will try again, just have to see if the airlines can live without my services for a few days.

Time for an update, I have been working a bunch at the airport so progress has been a little slow. Got the front end mostly together, still need to get one bolt to connect the drag link. But the rest is all done.

Next up folks are wondering about the rolling stock, here is what it will start with. I my change out the wheels latter, thats one of the cool things about the hot rod a wheel change will change the overall look. Also I got the kingpins pressed in, if you have a small shop a press is one of the tools I use most and never thought I even needed one

How about a money shot, this is bad ass the radiator cap is a repop for a 34 Ford but I think it looks good on the shell.

One more shot from a different position, for the record I had to buy three of the crank opening chrome parts. The ones are always haggard from jerking out the crank back in the day they are oval (fords are round). I also was lucky enough to find a guy that was remaking the mesh, he had them water jeted out of stainless and I had it powder coated. I wanted it black to contrast the chrome and white.

Well today I got the engine and transmission installed. I will be installing the transmission coolers, and start getting the rear axle ready to install. Here's the picture for the day.

Got the rear axle all cleaned up and a coat of harvester red on it should be able to install it tomorrow. I feel like a commy using an 8.8, but 3:73 disc brake for 150 bones and I needed the 5 on 4.5 bolt pattern to match the front. I will also be installing a nice chrome cover.

Although it does look different the paint is the same as the engine, should darken up as it dries.

These axles have a nice disc brake set up, and I hear they are very strong. The hot rod will be very light so I think the axle will be fine also the rear is set up with coil overs and hair pins so wheel hop should not be an issue.
