Didn't get much done. But this contact high from fresh coat of primer has definitely gone to the head I won't be painting the top just yet. When I pull it off and down on the ground, I need to finish up some of the po virus repairs. Granted, that red top didn't originally come with this particular Scout. The old one was so rusty that chunks of rust fell in your lap every time ya hit a pot hole. So it was chopped up with the plasma cutter and then recycled with other scrapped up body parts from my rolled Scout

I'm also getting side tracked working on 72 IH pick up. Replacing the original oem rubber brake lines that should have been replaced a decade ago at least. Surprised they lasted this long. Fairly crusty.

Btw - that dark greenish/blue Scout sitting behind my beast is my very first Scout(72), and first IH ever, that got me hooked.

There's a reason behind the madness of why the seat base is under the beast and not in it. I forsee a roll in bedliner in the near future

Loadstar? Did I recently acquire something that I'm unaware of? Be nice, that is if it actually ran and be drivable.

Phil coonrod is always asks me to go to the rmihr, since its started I've been twice. Never entered a vehicle though. So I think I need to be convinced to go, and register one of my trucks, or bring em' both. 41's almost a semi truck tire.

As if I really had a need to run 41" shoes.

If I had one of my scouts drivable and reliable, I would be heading out to more of the events. Just being able to drive one of them would great. But, since money is funny and scarce, I have been spacing out my parts and/or supplies orders out for when funds become available.

Speaking of which, after putting it off for awhile, I think I have finally sourced out a set of inner axle seals, that I ordered today, for my front d-44. Hopefully these will match up to the 35 spline inner axles that I'm running with my ARB. I will find out next week. I will also need to fix or replace the copper tube that is soldered into the collar of the ARB diff that actuates the locking mechanism.

I also took some time today to work on the left front fender, due to some cancer. I might have it painted and mounted by end of weekend.

Well, this really blows big chunks. The inner seals that I ordered for my front d 44 won't work. They won't fit my inner axles. What's very frustrating about it is that this ARB 35 spline locker for the Dana 44 has been available for a number of years, but the inner seals seems to be completely unavailable. And the company who made the axles, who sourced the seals isn't answering the phone or replying back to emails. Fudge

My front axle is still stuck on hold. Sourcing out the proper sized inner axle seals has proven to be difficult. Been semi actively searching off-n-on for over a year. I even posted about it last year - here

Only good thing so far is that I did get the new replacement air seal collar that was damaged and it does seem to fit. But can't put it back together until I get the inner seals.

as a side note, I did finish up the driver side fender and painted. Was going to mount it yesterday, but then realized that I need to fab up a screen mounted onto the drain gutter that's under the windshield frame. I will be heading out to home death spot today to get some. Slowly piecing the beast back together.

No anger issues. Just frustrated that options are extremely limited. Especially considering that the ARB 35 spline option has been available since about 2005. And here it is 8 years later it is hard to find some one who can supply the proper inner seals. Several reputable axle builders seem to be dumbfounded when I call to inquire about it. What makes it worse, is that the company who made my inner axles have not returned any of my emails or phone calls.

If I actually drank alcohol, beer wouldn't cut it. I would go straight to the harder/stronger stuff

You can come raid my fridge skittle's. I keep the good stuff in stock. A&w. The really strong stuff. Even have the mugs you drink it out of. Too much of that saspirillia and you'll end up on your arse. Mix it with some heavy vanilla ice cream and we'll be drunk for a month.

I dont know nuff bout lockers to feel your pain. But is there another axle option or any other route short of waiting til the right seal pops up?

And for future reference is this sumthin I should avoid if I ever do go the route your on?

Yea, I can continue running the current front d-44 that is still under it. Problem is, the mix match gears between front and rear, since I don't know what gear ratio the front end is. Pluss, who ever did the SOA conversion on the stock Scout front d-44 housing, did a piss poor job in the fab work. Nothing but buggered up bubble gum welds between cast iron and steel. I do plan on posting up photos once I get the seals sourced out for the front axle I want to use and ready to actually do the swap.

Besides, even if the gears did match, front & rear, I still couldn't go wheeling since I currently cannot install a front drive shaft. Which leads to another fix in the works before I get this beast road worthy. The current exhaust plumbing, discussed previously in this build thread, coming off the headers is right in the way of how the front drive shaft goes. And the two chamber flowmasters are way too loud for my taste. I already have a set of stan's try-y headers sitting here on the shelf waiting to be installed when I get ready to order new mufflers and exhaust plumbing.

I already posted up on page two of this thread about swapping out the rear-end. The Ford 9" that "was" under the beast when I picked it up is now sitting peacefully under my 51 studebaker. The d-44 I re-installed in it's place was built with another ARB with 35 spline axles and 4.56 gears. Which seems to be a bit easier to source parts for than the front end is.

Silently waiting behind the scenes, I have been slowly collecting parts for this beast. These just came in today :d

I pair of o2 weld in bungs with screw in caps. Eventually that will lead into yet another upgrade sometime. A pair of three chamber magnaflow xl mufflers. Some straight pipe, 90* bends, and a couple 45*. The old two chamber flowmasters are just way to damn loud for my taste. And the way the the pipe is routed prevents me to install a front prop shaft.

Then of course I have had these up on the shelf for awhile, waiting for the above parts.

Good ole stan's tri-y. I'm actually seriously considering sending them off to get coated.

Mine too. Along with going broke in the process. Which is partially why it has been taking so long for this build. Here's a few shots of what I'm currently dealing with. In no way am I harping on the person I purchased this beast from. I fully understood what he was trying to do. It's all good on my end. I'm only posting these snap shots to show why I currently install a front drive shaft. And as to why I want to replace the headers.

The passenger header has a couple decent sized dents in the tubes. When I route the new exhaust tube between the new headers and mufflers, I'm going a straight shot on both sides between body, frame and transfer case, instead of all those multiple bends

Now that I'm getting a little break from helping another member on here doing a hamilton TBI install on his little baby 69 800, I was getting a little busy with exhaust work. Driver side is complete for the most part.

Aint purdy, but functional. Only thing left is plumbing out the butt end of the new muffler. The other new muffler is currently just hangen out on the block waiting for me to actually mount up this next make shift contraption:

I'm in the works of adding a 3 bolt flange to end of plumbing. Which will make it easy to pull this section of pipe out, without having the muffler attached, in order for any major service to the auto trans.

Also, speaking of FI. I'm also welding o2 sensor bungs into the exhaust system. Future plans for this beast of TBI

Well, after sitting around patiently waiting, she finally starting to get a little loven. Just received these parts this morning from the powder coater. If time is permitting, maybe these parts will be re-installed next week.

Dear gawd those parts look nice! Curious, when you send stuff off to get coated, do you need to do all the masking of threads/ports and stuff, or does the place generally know what to avoid? I've never done anything like this before, but I foresee a lot of it in the near future :d
