For sure ... When a rod is free to dance around in the bore, it's ......

Not all that sure it'll work better, but it sure does look better ..

Much cleaner look ...

Belts are on ..
Took a bit of work to get them tracking straight ..

That part of the doing is done ..

Next to do is the fuel pump and line to the carb ..
Pump is on the way, fuel line might be a chore to make, wanting to use steel tubing ..

More 'Nice & Tidy'

Found a great out of the way spot to mount TCI's TPS ...

Since the 4L85E transmission is electronic I had to get a stand alone control module ...
Got it tucked away inside the glovebox ..

Somewhat of a chore to install a flanged sleeve ...

490063024_10233127967319904_6018084355956675953_n.jpg

Most of the work was getting it out of the stand and on the floor ..
Now to get it back into the stand and bore all eight holes ...

Dressed in the sleeve to the block ..

Time to get it in the rollover stand and bore all eight holes ...

Going to 4.305" leaving .005" to hone to finish size 4.310"
That be .060" over the STD size of the 454 block (4.250")

Tis a bit of work to take out that last .005" from the bores ..

To bring you up to speed ..

The above motor block is in the process of being built into a Bad-Boy ..
Doing a baby stroker, adding a 1/4" more stroke than what the 454 has ..
With the stroker and a .060" overbore takes the cubes to 496 inches ..
This has been a long journey, finding a 4-bolt main Mark IV block that was buildable took a month of Sundays to do, same with the heads .. Did run up on a nice set of large oval port 781 casting heads that will be seeing a world of parts going in .. ( Not to mention the labor )

Since I have a champagne taste and a beer budget, the build is going to take a long while to get done ..

The 454 is close to going in the truck .. Lot of the parts it has will be used on the 496 ..

Installed a factory GM oil cooler adapter ..
Just in case engine heat becomes a problem ..

Hadn't got a cooler just yet ..
Do see a few spots to mount it in the wind ..

In order to keep a eye on the oil temperature I found a super small gauge meant for motorcycles ..
Wanted a small flat one cause it will be mounted inside the glovebox ...

Keeping the dashboard clean of added on accessories is the goal, it has more than enough already ..

Was wanting to see a good color match on the dashboard to the steering wheel ..

457303412_10230333725425603_1923055004280949327_n.jpg

After working the dash seen that it was much darker than the wheel was ..
So here we go again ...

Takes a lot of work to woodgrain .. Do think the end results is worth the effort ...

Might have a better match going on now, soon to print on the grain ..
