dear gawd those parts look nice! Curious, when you send stuff off to get coated, do you need to do all the masking of threads/ports and stuff, or does the place generally know what to avoid? I've never done anything like this before, but I foresee a lot of it in the near future :d

Thank you. Not sure about most of the powder coating companies out there, or what they would charge, but I have a good friend who has been working for a local shop(near me) for years. Which translates for a screaming deal on my part for the amount of work that was involved. They did all the work for masking off non painted surfaces and plugging up all holes(especially threaded holes) that do not get painted. Another added bonus is due to being engine parts and covered with years of grease and grime, before applying paint, they cook it in an oven at roughly 1,000 degrees, to burn off all the old crap. Here's a closer shot of the intake and bottom side of t-housing with the masking off. Btw - with this candy red, all these parts were sprayed and baked twice. First coat was silver and second coat was the red

Very cool, and good to know, thanks scooter! I'll have to poke around town and see what the shops around here can do. The beast is looking awesome. I'm inspired, and excited to see it continue to flesh out.
 
Thanks again. I'm anxious to get this beast back on the road too. But several other things are being reworked and built up before that happens. I'm actually glad that I pulled the intake and valley pan, because it appears that there was some work done to this motor previously. Being that there was some orange rtv snot under both, along with motor was painted Ford blue and some sort of rodents nest resting on top of the valley pan (mmm lunch... Not):yikes:

haven't been out to riverside in a few years. Grew up in the beach cities area, down there. I'm a.little over due in heading back down there.
 
And for future reference is this sumthin I should avoid if I ever do go the route your on?

I just re-read your post about my ailing front axle from earlier on this page. Only thing I could suggest is that who ever makes and machines the custom inner axle that they machine the seal surface to match a seal that's already in existence. If any one has further inquiries regarding the d-44 ARB 35 spline, I could give out more details in pm. Or wait till I finish my front axle build, and I'll post up more details in another thread
 
Well got a little done in the last couple of days. The only before shot, when I pulled these parts off, is of the valley pan with what almost seems like some kind of rodents nest.

Thank you. Been watching your build up and is coming along nicely. Liking the windshield gasket you recently did. I might do that too on mine at some point.

It will be a few weeks before I can get back to this beast and/or my "ole yeller". Getting ready for some work on another members Scout, for some bartering action of parts.
 
Unfortunately, due to medical reasons, I'm faced with the sad decision of having to sell this project. As much as I want to get back to working on this project, currently I'm. Physically unable to.
