Barret Lake this year

just got off the phone with the ranger station and they arent expecting barret to open up till after the July 4th holiday. Theres enough interest here for the strawberry to slick rock run.

We can meet at the end strawberry trail (off the 50) on Friday moring and go from there. Whos going and on what day?

I plan on going up Friday morning.

I know this is last minute, but they need 100 volunteers on the rubicon that weekend. They are looking to get any help people can offer in building water bars, they will have heavy equipment to do some of the heavy digging and the county will be there providing materials.
Last year I help out on a project and it was a lot of fun. It's hard work so most people help out a couple hours even though they May be there all day. So this is an option too. If you go slow the con is not that bad. Lot of good camping too.

What sections of the trail are being worked on? Anybody know what the snow situation is like on the trail?

If I go probably wont be till sat am. Would like to set up meeting time & location??? The con sounds like fun too? Thanks Joe...... P.s. Stacys Scout is still on house arrest so he's a passenger.

Strawberry it is. :cornut:

I'm sure rock tractor can give us this weeks snow report. I talked with some folks today that have been going up a lot and they said the snow its melting fast. A week ago it was 3' and this week its a foot. Snow should not be a big issue.

Lets use channel 10 on the cb.

The 146.805 repeater offset -.6 pl 123 covers a lot of the area.

Those without a cb let us know as we need to make predefined meeting times/locations.

That said a cb does not work that well and it would be wise to have clearly defined plans from the start.

The part of the rubicon trail that is being worked on is from loon to ellis creek. At this point the county is still working on details, so bebe does not have details of what the volunteers will be doing just yet. I do know the county got a 1.2 million dollar grant this year to spend on the rubicon. The trail is being re route over ellis creek and all the dirt parts will be covered with mine tailings.

No ham and no cb. But I can yell really loud. :ihih: where would be the place to meet up for strawberry and what time Friday?

Actualy they are not quit sure where exactly the work is gonna be done. The county just did a walk through and the plans are being discussed. All in all the trail is in good shape.

If you are going up to work and plan on attending the dinner afterwards. The dinner will be at either airport flats, southfork or wentworth springs campground. Not on the main trail.

Cb channel 10. 10-4.

Theres a staging area where you turn off from highway 50 for strawberry pass (about half mile south west of strawberry). They have picnic tables and a place to hang out. We could meet there at 10am. Is that cool with every one?

Theres a cool camp sight towards the end of the trail with great views. Would make a great place to pitch a tent.

Sounds good to me.
Since pete does not have a radio, do you know if cell phones work there? If not we could meet at the pollack pines safeway as a second choice.

I think there is ph service at the camp ground your talking about, so we can update anyone coming up on sat. Morning.

Where do you want to meet sat. Morning?

Will be there Friday. I think Jesse is riding along with me.

I like the camp spot overlooking caples lake, hope it's available.

Sean (silverscout) pete (235frog) and I will be caravaning up from the bay area Friday morning so no need to meet pete twice... We will see you at the trail head per sean's post.
