Weise's Little Red Wagon

Lookin good! So wait, that's all you've got done since I was there last...:ciappa: lookin forward to seeing the finished product!

So....I was just thinking what a pain in the ass Mom's Scout is going to be to work on with new paint!! Dad and I won't know what to do! I guess it's time to save some blankets to drape everywhere when Dad and I start working on it. Maybe even time to invest in a car cover just for sitting in the garage!!

another thing. Dad you should save all the pics that Mike has put up and have them printed by costco, so Mom and put them into her book.

Well the lrw is back in the o.c.
I still need to finish the tailgate but the major part of the Scout was delivered this evening. Pictures of the Scout before delivery.

The lrw looks awesome. Pictures don't do it justice. Now my work begins; putting it all back together so we can bring to Binder Bee.

Thanks to Mike and ken for delivering it.

actually Mom wants to blast aerosmith!! Years I ago I bought her a cd just for that purpose.

Aerosmith! Wow.. They started in 1969, just a few scant years after the lrw came off the line. There is a very good possibility that the first aerosmith songs were pumped through tlrw's first sound system!

Now you not only have aerosmith original score to go with the lrw but now you can be cutting edge and pimp that ride with a plasma and play aerosmith guitar hero while heading down to the dq on a hot summer night. Talk about bringing the past up to the present in two ways... The Scout and aerosmith. Two things from the sixties that never went out of style.

'69 was about the time linda came off the assembly line too...the one that prepped her for this kinda stuff...high school!

But dave and lyle tell me she was doing the "homemaking" thing while they were shop rats and geeks!

I'll take linda's homemaking skills over anybody's shop skills! And since she' much younger than the rest of us, she can still remember how to homemake!

Dave sez that linda had one of those under-dash "turntables" that played 45's and 33's...but no 78's!

But then...dave never even saw a teevee before he went off to oregon state and the real world unfolded before hiz eyes!

a quick update on the lrw. Up until now things have been progressing very normal. The original front nose piece was trashed so lyle brought me another one. It is way better however today I started work on it and noticed that it was bent out on one body line where it would meet the hood. The arrow below points out the problem.

Because of the nature of the bend and the location the only way to fix it was to take the panel apart and straighten it and then weld the panel back together again. The photos below show that process.
Cutting spot welds…

Piece removed….

Nose piece clamped straight and ready to weld.

Welded and ready for final body work…

Back to work.....:winky:

I am having problems visualizing how this worked, and would appreciate some more detail. I have the exact same problem on my Scout, except that the front of the nose sticks too far in by about the same amount that this one stuck out.

Once you removed the one peice from the nose, how did you get the curved part to move inward the 1/4 to 1/2 inch that was needed to have it line up with the inside edge of the fender?

In my case, I need to get mine to move 1/4 to 1/2 inch outward in order to line up with the fender.....

Thanks in advance.

John, once you cut the spot welds holding the under piece in place. You will be able to manipulate the outer curved piece to where you need it to be. In our case I needed to pull it in a bit. Sounds like you will need to push it out a bit. Once you get it where it needs to be clamp it and then re spot weld it back together.

Thought it was time to put up some more pictures. Most of the reassembly is finished. Next up is a trip, on a trailer, to the Sierra Fall Rallye this week. After that, then it is on to the interior. Yeah, probably backwards doing the outside first, but when you look at the "ugly 80" pic, you will know why. The last pic shows what it looked like when we first saw it.

Not the best pics, but wanted to get them taken while there was a little daylight left.

Sadly, today, I discovered I have what appears to be the wrong half cab top. Notice how the top doesn't match the windows at the top. Not real sure what I have. I'll ask around at the rallye.
