Weise's Little Red Wagon

yep, that is it! I am not sure what it means yet, other then it should be the first generation of the Scout 80 body, which seems to fit what we already know. Now, the other question I have is I know the window regulators and glass are original to the Scout, but what about the windshield frame?

I am 99% sure it is the original windshield since the color was the same and we had to work with it to get it to fold down, but then one never knows for sure.

The windshield I pulled the glass out was taller which would only worsen the problem. I need to go take a measurement of the other windshields we have, just to see what we have.

I working on this same issue that has now come up with a friend back east since we talked last Saturday lyle. I'm not trying to do the "homework" for yawl...but my buddy does not yet have a mt-113 so I did some additional analysis so that I could advise him what he needed to watch for in the way of additional pieces for his latest Scout 80.

You need to look at every page of sections 9 and 12 and do a through side-by-side part number analysis of every piece of sheetmetal on every page...there are a myriad of differences!

The most telling is when you see that the variations of the bulkhead behind the seat (whether welded-in oem, drop-in oem, or drop-in "field install") have a definite correlation to the windshield frame system which is installed. So this is not "simple" and determined only by the design of the windshield header and top (either half-cab or traveltop) as to manufacturing date/serial number. Many different points determine what fits what and is part of a set.

I thought I knew all the variations since I've delt with this before...but obviously it's far more complicated than what I originally determined. And now I know why none of the half cabs I've actually seen (even those that properly matched the windshield header location, did not fit the top of the bulkhead properly where the seal is made.

So the variations of the windshield frames (dimensionally and position of the header), appears to be determined by which bulkhead is being used in regard to the half cab. This is not so much an issue with the traveltop since there is no bulkhead...but the traveltop used must properly match the width/height of the windshield frame.

So...ive come to the conclusion that your side windows don't match the jambs in the half cab because the half cab is not sitting in it's proper position to create the seal...and that May be because none of the parts (windshield/bulkhead are an actual matching set as determined by the oem bulkhead. And since your bulkhead is an oem "welded-in" unit, and it's obviously not ever been removed for repair, etc., then the top and the windshield frame are not the correct match for the body/bulkhead as spec'd in the parts list.

Comprende'?????

Mike,

I understand what you are saying, but the truck was bought from the original owners and the paint on the windshield matched the paint on the body. Just paint, primer and metal. I am about as sure as I can be that it is the original windshield frame, it's was in great shape when we bought it. The truck did now come with a travel top and not a half cab.
