The official Naches/Con/Fordice/SFR thread

For info regarding the September naches trip as well as the sierra fall rally (including the rubicon and fordice trail run).
We need to put together info such as who is attending, departure times, camping info, routes etc.

I have questions about the sfr part of the trip which I will put up in a following post.

Ok, as for the sfr part of our fall adventure, what are the dates that we need to make reservations at lake frances resort, and what part of the resort is taken over by the IH rif-raf?
I know the dates of the sfr, but those of us that are taking on the trail rides May be at other places during part of that. Anyone care to shed a little light on the plans?

Ok terry, I think the plan for naches is to leave the morning of the 17 and return on the 19, same setup as last year.

As far as con/fordyce/IHSFR trip, the way it stands now, I think??? Leave Saturday, oct. 2 in the early morning, wheel the con Sunday and Monday. Hang out at Jeff's on Tuesday, fix our stuff and wheel fordyce Wednesday and Thursday. Take the ghost town tour Friday and spend the rest of the weekend at the IHSFR. Leave Sunday after the awards ceremony so some of us can be back to work on Monday. :rolleyes5:

as far as lodging etc.. We need to camp near the con Saturday and Sunday night. I don't know if we camp at Jeff's Monday and Tuesday night, I think daniel checked on this. Camp at fordyce Wednesday, camp at lake frances Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.

Mike has the info and has made the camping arraingements in the past for lake frances and fordyce. We need to get together soon and have a planning session.

I hope this helps some. :wink5:

While the lake francis resort camping area is rather huge (it's a major rv destination), the spaces could fill up fairly quickly if some other event is being held at the same time as the Sierra Fall Rallye. So go ahead and make reservations asap if a rv hookup or yurt is needed. Ya gotta contact the resort directly to do that, the rallye organizers can't make camping reservations.

I'll prolly leave here on sept. 30 and arrive in Grass Valley at ihon hq on Sunday, oct. 3. We'll stay there until the 7th and then move on to the venue to begin the rallye setup. Then we'll move back to ihon until prolly oct.15 or so and head home by the back roads, I don't do interstates.

It there a particular part of the resort that the IH crowd takes over?
I'm sure the resort management would prefer to keep the low life in one area:ciappa:

so we need to figure out where we will be, when, according to all the activities we have scheduled....

No, ya take what ya can get on the campsites, first come, first serve. The general public is also there year 'round, and on occasion portions of the spaces are out of service for maintenance/upgrade.

Rallye participants can request particular site numbers, but generally we're spread out all over the facility. And...it's a long, loooong hike from the camping area to the show site behind the main resort complex on the other side of the road from the campground, so we generally drive back and forth or hitch rides with someone going that way.

Monty had our timeline right.

I had mentioned it to Jeff about staying at his place a while back and he said it was ok, should probablly check again before we all just show up!:rolleyes5:

I beleive that weve got a car hauler that we can take down and my Dad said he would drive it (hes got a cdl) anyone have a semi?!? As far as wheeling rigs to go down as far as I know weve got roths, mine, jen/terry's and possibly kristons, which should all fit on the hauler.

The car hauler May or May not still be available. I will check but we need to find a semi soon if that is how we are going to roll. :yesnod:

And just so everyone knows, I suck!

I will not have my junk done in time for either trip, I will ride passenger again this year. :cryin:

The rubicon trail has 3 entrances. Two are very close to each other and the other is off of the lake tahoe side.

Here a topo map, not really needed, but just in case.

The only issue I see in your plans is heading in on Sunday when others will be heading out. Since it's oct the traffic should be less. Lots of places to camp. Sat. Night. Free in the forest, or pay for a campground spot.

Can't seem to upload a map:ciappa: will try later

Yep, I'm a pussy.

I could have it done but the cost/time/grief it would take before then isn't worth it. Maranda's Scout needs attention as well and I suck because I can't work on both at the same time. :mad2:

I'll bring some crown, but the way you and Mike go through it, it would be cheaper to finish my Scout. :dita:

The suck thing is that naches is on my son's 5th birthday (sept 17) and that fordice is on my daughters 3rd birthday (oct 9th).

There is no way I am going to get out of the birthday parties planned for those weekends.

When they are older I can take them with me, or just leave them at home.

Here is a link to the lake francis resort campground layout:

http://lakefrancisrv.com/pdf/site-map.pdf

If you guys want to camp together in a group, you can call and see if you can get camping spots close together...

As mayben stated, it is a "long way" to the area where the vehicles are displayed / etc. (basically lower left corner of the above map). It is walkable for those so inclined -- and not carrying a lot of stuff...

So, the planning commitee worked out a few details this weekend and everyone knows what they have to do to make these trips happen.

Dboy has taken the lead on these trips so if anybody has any questions pm or email him.
