report in I've got major squirting going on! The proper gasket makes a world of difference. Got everything put back on, but haven't had time to start it yet?

Question: will the rotor point at the #8 piston when number 8 is on tdc. It would have to be but I thought I'd ask just to make sure.

I'll have to post the carb kit number, but if you got a 2210c carb the kit from o'reilly's is the best. Its got the right gaskets and the power valve.

Well don't git any on ya!:yikes: that's a good deal. Now you should be able to get this thing running, maybe even well enough to drive if you're real lucky. That's good to know about the o'reilly's kit. The general consensus with Holley carbs is to stick with genuine Holley parts whenever possible, but perhaps this is an acceptable alternative.
When #8 cylinder is tdc, whatever terminal the rotor is lined up with is #8, and then you run your remaining wires according to the firing order from there. You'll want to verify that the #8 piston is at the top of the compression stroke by pulling that plug and inserting a pencil or similar item that you won't drop. You want to feel an obstruction, which is the top of the piston. If not, the piston is at the bottom of the stroke and you need to rotate the engine to bring it topside.
When the dizz is stabbed properly, the vac advance can will be pointing roughly between 4 and 5 'oclock if you're standing at the p-side of the vehicle looking directly at the dizz. That gives you plenty of room to advance the timing if need be by rotating the dizz counter clockwise towards the water neck.

I'm pumped! Everything is in line. Hearing tis thing start would be a nice Christmas present to myself, if I May say so. Merry Christmas sb74 and to everybody who has taken the time to listen to the problems getting this junkiron going.

We have blast off, nasa!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Got her fired up today with great oil pressure. Got her moved outside the garage on her own power. I've got to get the gas tank off now so I can get her cleaned out. My wife and me have gave it an offical name! The offical name is: merle. She's glasier blue and we have blue merle australian sheperds. Time to get her fine tuned and I'll keep everybody updated!! Thanks again sb74 for all of your support!!
Merry Christmas and happy new year!! Yea hea!!!!

Right on dude! That's outstanding! It's like finding that one more gift under the tree hours later that somehow slipped through cracks...for me I mean. These in depth cyber-advise sessions make me more nervous the longer they go on. Apparently I somehow managed not to screw you up too bad despite my best efforts. The downside here is, when you experience a victory like this, all it does is give the "bug" a chance to burrow itself so deep that you can never be rid of it. You might have had a chance to make a clean break before, but that ship has sailed. Now you're just another poor lost soul like the rest of us. There's even reason to believe your wife May have been infected too. Oh, this just awful.
Yeah, do keep us posted on your progress. I'm sure there'll be more opportunities to get you totally cornfused on something else.
