Hi, I've been reading posts on here for a couple years as I looked for a Scout, finally got a '63 that's arriving in a few days. Supposedly been stored since the late 70's so I will have a few things to learn about and work on.

Have a 73 Scout 2, really a perfect project for the next buyer. I have been working on this, and needing help through this forum.
Really good information.....

I have been trolling the online forums trying to learn and read as much as I could regarding IH scouts. I love these trucks my brother has a 800 up in the pacific northwest and now I have my Scout II in the valley. I am trying to get my Scout ready for the fall to hit the trails and go wheeling.

Hello to IH forum members from north of duluth, mn. I found the forum while searching for parts for my 1975 ls1700 392 auto dump. What a great truck! I'll try to find the appropriate thread to inquire about finding a gas tank. Thanks.

Just got my first Scout project. Here are some details.
- 1968 800 with the 196 slant 4. W/ 3 spd. Runs great. Starts on first try every time.
- front axle - Dana 30 w/ 27 ends. Po had a local 4x4 shop service with new bearings and seals
- rear Dana 44 tapered axle. 3.73. Right wheel bearing is toast. I'm currently replacing both wheel bearings, races and seals to make it road ready. Pinion and carrier bearings seem fine.

Other po work - new Holley 2 bbl carburetor. (I still have original 1 bbl and oil bath filter). New brake master cylinder and brake lines, shoes and drums. It appears to be a pretty solid project that runs.

Other than some basic repairs (heater hoses, vacuum hoses for the wipers - really? In 1968?), cosmetics, and rust mitigation, it appears the suspension needs some attention. With the rear axle leveled on jack stands there's noticeable list to the passenger side. So my first project will be refreshing or replacing the springs.

Hello all!
Long time International family here. My father learned to drive on an old '46 IH pickup and I learned to drive on my fathers '75 IH pickup. My grandfather even used to sell part of the IH line in the 50's.

My wife and I picked up an old '68 Travelall in really rough shape a few years back, but sadly it's become a storage shed due to all the body work, etc. Needed to get it going. :(

however, we just came upon a deal from a friend that was too good to pass up on a '72 Travelall which included a '73 parts Travelall.

While searching the internet for info, we came across this site with Jeff's 1970 1-ton 4x4 Travelall build thread. We we're incredibly excited to see the thread, as it shows all the upgrades we plan to do!

The '72 was parked about 13 years ago, but was running when it was parked. Next weekend we have a pressure washer rented to get the pack rats nests, etc. Out of it, and then we can see how good/bad everything is. Currently, we're a bit afraid to sit in it!

We're going to get our 392 rebuilt, add Dana 60 axles, a nv4500 tranny, lift it, add an aluminum radiator and super swampers, plus many other things that I'm sure will come up as we go along.

My wife's going to take care of all the interior issues (floor, carpet, door panels, etc.) as well as give the truck a new paint job. I'll take care of all the mechanical issues. Once done, it should be our go anywhere rig. We can't wait to get it going! I'm sure we'll be on here often with questions, etc. :smile5:

this winter we're going to try and sell off some old stuff (including some parts from all three of our Travelall's that we won't need) to bring funds in for the project and start ordering parts in hopes for starting the project in earnest this coming spring.

Welcome I just got a '73 1700 dump truck too. Same drive train too, but with air brakes. Is yours 2 yd, mines 2.5 yd?

Greetings! I live in albuquerque nm and I have a 75 Scout II that I've done a lot of mechanical "parts replacing" on... I'm no mechanic, but I do like learning about it with this machine. I'm currently working on an aftermarket dash/ isspro gauge install and a complete re-wire using a painless 21 fuse harness. It's a long term process since I learn as I go... And I started out knowing nothing. :icon_confused: if anyone has done a re-wire like this I'd love to communicate with y'all as I go along. Be well and thanks for the opportunity to greet fellow Scout-a-holics!

just like the title says. Please let us know a little about yourself and how you found the forum.

Gonzalo from venezuela. I found the forum while looking for information for my 1964 IH Scout 80. The Scout was my Christmas gift. It´s in general good conditions.

I will post pictures soon.

Regards.

Hello, board. I'll be here probably asking a million questions over the next few months while I start repairing/upgrading/generally rebuilding and restoring the attached truck.

I've owned it for coming up on 2 years now, I've done little with it because I had nowhere to work on it. My new workshop is currently under construction and should be complete in the next month.... Then the fun begins

Heck fire , nettles here from alabama, live in iowa, new to group, old to Scout 2s, owned my 72 304 v8 t18 Dana 20 , took the auto tranny out.since 91 and have beat the crap out of it and been in it as the other owners did as well no telling how many times it has been in the mud or woods overnight.. In sept 2015 I started the process of replacing ,reworking and ordering my dream list of parts, sanded her down to the metal , repaired the 3 rust places both cab corners and drivers rear quarter fender wheel well, poly primed, I put dynamat in the cab area only cause I switched to a terra top, raptor lined entire cab and bed fender wheels and under body, oh inside the doors also with the dynamat and the liner. Por 15 rust prevent on the frame. From there it goes and ill prolly forget a few,,,new 19 gallon poly tank, sending unit, gas lines, electric fuel pump, fuel reg, filter system, alumn radiator, borgeson steering joint, shocks, bushings bearings, front rotors and calipers, complete new brake lines front to rear , along with master cyclinder, rear disc kit, bushwhacker fender flares, h4 headlight, led light kits, custom gauge conversion, smity built seats, kwik wire 14 circuit harness, e brake cables, so much that I dont know why or how I was so blessed, new wheels and tires mickey thompson sim beadlocks 15x10 with 33x12.50x15 BFG all terrians, did some special touchs to the dash pad and hood, with carbon fiber vinyl. Digital camo paint, warn winch bumper with a 12000lb winch, took the full top off and got a terra top and bulkhead, its alot and id say another week and a half it should be ready to get the iowa inspection, like I said im sure I forgot a few things but I would read these and the list fiolks put up, oh the replacement glove box, all new switchs for the electrical , keylock set. Traded for the terra top and tailgate and such, but yeah im in love with this truck and have alot of good memories in it,

Hey,

tim from washington mo here.

In the middle of 71 Scout 2 rebuild...need all the help I can get. Met you guys at the show in ohio last year.

Impressed with the amount of parts available. Mulling over IH Parts America engine rebuild for my 345. Not a bad price...and a warranty! Shipping is scary though.

Going to determine how bad I need one. But body is completely off frame, and the engine is sitting there staring at me. So easy to take out and put back in now.

Anyway saw this on your site. Looking forward to dealing with you.

Any advice on dealing with tailgate hinges?

Hi to all.
My name is Todd I live in sacramento.
I recently purchased my first International for a father son project.
Its a 1959 b120 Travelall panel.... This won't be a restro project to much redneck engineering done to it already. Found this site searching for information about it.
