MLS Install

Reset the ECM, the alternator has to get kick started. Getting 9 volt at esc w/ key on and engine running. Took another shorter drive.

The esc error didn't come back so that's good.

The fuel is going lean so you will need to tune the chip or upgrade the regulator spring to get more pressure.

I'm a little confused as to why I have to still increase the pressure when most systems run 12.5 to 15 psi tops. I'm at 15 psi now and need to add more?

If everything is right then you shouldn't have to.

If:
you have a 345.
Have 5.7-5206 injectors
have good fuel pressure
then you would be slightly Rich.

But:
injectors could be dirty.
Pressure May not be accurate.
Bad connection? Wiring/ECM/chip

so:
I can only go by what I see in your data.

Where is the tab on the regulator?
Is it at the top or at the bottom of the slot?

Was your ECM a v8 or v6 ECM to start with?

Regulator tab is at the top, ECM was from a 5.0 v8. Changed out the chips to 5.7.

If I don't change anything else but get a higher rate spring, how high a pressure am I goingto have to run?

The only spring I know of is the 18psi one.

If you can tune then that would be a better option.
But I don't know what your abilities are.

Worked a little binder ingenuity, see how that looks. Short test in driveway. I'll log a drive tomorrow after work.

Not bad.
Could use a little more.
I was going to mention that an old school way to raise the pressure was to place a washer or quarter under the spring to act as a shim.

Went and got some plumbing washers that fit just right. I can add a little more before I drive tomorrow. I actually turned it down some during the logs because the Rich flag kept coming up. I'll order the 18 psi spring soon and then bug you about tuning a chip for me. :out:

The Rich flag will always come on and off.
That's how the system works in closed loop.
It dithers the fuel mixture from Rich to lean so it can maintain the 14.7 afr.

Added a little more. Took a longer drive.

Looks better.
I don't think you can do much more with some Rich and some lean areas.
You May want to bump the timing a few degrees at a time to see how it responds.if it pings, back it off a couple.

Added some more timing. Took a short drive, then added some more. Still no pinging, but hard to tell with the Scout not being very quite.

There is still a large dead spot towards wot.

I don't really see anything wrong.

Can't tell if the tps matches the map tho.
You should turn the key on and open the throtttle and see if the tps increases from idle to wot without any dead spots.
There wasn't much extended wot runs just quick burst on the data.
