here is the Scout at the 2007 Scout nationals.....this was hands down the nicest Scout that I have ever seen.

We're back from the nats! The Scout took first place in class and a second place in engineering. I was very happy with the reactions we got from the folks viewing the Scout at the show. Those remarks alone made it all worth it. Soon as I get caught up around here I'll get all my pics downloaded and post up the end of the build.
Sorry for the delay in getting the rest of the build posted up.
Last pics showed us dropping down the tub and cage. From there we started running hoses and wiring.
Brake lines were made and the adjustable brake proportioning valve was mounted.
The temp sensor for the gauge was mounted in the back of the thermostat housing as there was no where else to place it.
Adjusting/checking the belt tension.

The dash after paint. The a/c vents, a/c-heater control, and auxiliary switch's were installed.
The vintage air hvac system was installed under the dash and hoses were hooked up.
The engine oil cooler and lines were installed next.

And now for a turn of events. After installing all of the coolant hoses Darren performed a dry pressure test of the cooling system to verify no leaks. Well were we surprised to find that the cooling system would not hold pressure. In fact it sounded like it had a pretty decent leak and it was coming from inside the valve cover area. After some more detective work we found the leak. After all these years the passenger side cylinder head had a porous casting and was now showing up.
With the cooling system under pressure you can see the geyser of oil spray up as we searched for the leak.
So off came the cylinder head. A quick trip over to huthcinson racing and the head was fixed.

With the engine back together we continued on with the build. The gauges were installed in the dash and then the dash was installed in the Scout. Darren then began the lengthy task of wiring the Scout with one of our kwikwire 22 circuit vehicle wiring kits.
Most of the relays and fuses were mounted where the glovebox would normally be. Basically every circuit has a 'fail-safe' built into it and runs off of relays.

A transmission tunnel cover was made.
More of the miles of wiring that went into the Scout.
We got the partsmike superarms installed that were on back order and found there wasn't enough clearance between the tierod and oilpan so some modification of the tierod and draglink were needed.

At this point we were a day from having to load the Scout on a trailer and send it off to ohio for the Scout nationals so not a whole lot of pics were taken towards the end of the build.

Thought I would update this build. After coming back from the nationals Darren took it over to his place to build the amp/speaker box for the rear. He also built pods in the front kick panel area as well that were blended into the Scout. After Darren was done with it the Scout went to the upholsterer to have the carpet installed and interior finished. Then the Scout sat while we had the front leaf springs sent back to alcan for some arching. This past weekend we took the Scout to the IHSFR and took home the people's choice award. With just some fine tuning left to go we shouldbe delivering this Scout to its home by next week.

Here's the latest update. The Scout was delivered to louis this past Saturday. We took the Scout up to loon lake for some pictures before heading back to town for some lunch. As much as I'm glad were done with the project I sure do miss it already.
