If this question has already been answered, I apologize as I could not find the thread. I recently bought a 1979 Scout II with a 196(ic). The Scout is all original with a 3 speed manual. It has the typical rusted out body of a Scout that has sat in a field for many years. Although challenging, it is possible to revive it.
I am mechanically inclined and used to work on diesel engines and trucks for a short time when I was younger. I have never restored a vehicle in my life and think this Scout will be the opportunity to do so.
What recommendations, suggestions, advice, knowledge, tricks, and hacks can anyone share with me when attempting to start the engine for the first time after sitting for 22 years? If anyone has a basic step by step process, that would be great. Thanks in advance for any help given!
If I am successful at restoring this Scout mostly by myself, I will most likely do it again.
