Rubicon Run 2013

I'll have it figured out by September or johnnie walker and I will be walking.

The bad news is I have t/c issues. I pulled the front driveline and when in 4wd I hear a clunking noises coming from the t/c case.

Suspect a broken gear. I will take a couple days to confirm,
but it looks like I'll be walking with johnnie as there little hope that stak will have parts in stock

That sucks :incazzato:

I was hoping it was the front axle, as parts could be found the next day. I plan on pulling the t/c tonight after work. Hopefully that will go smooth. But then I need to crack open the case. Found a you-tube vid on the process, so that's good.

Had I been thinking last night I could have drained the oil:001_icon_idea:

Blows. Throw the old 20 back in and call it good. We can finish the trail early. I know you don't want to spot/stack for me any more.

I got the t/c out and case cracked and found the broken gear.

I'll call stak in the morning and see if they can ups me a gear asap.

Glad you found the problem. I hope they can get a replacement gear out fairly soon. Did the box come apart pretty easy? It looked like it split open right down the middle making access easier then a d20 or 300.

Wow, that sucks Craig. It just keeps piling up, doesn't it? The good new is once you take care of that, there really isn't that much left..lol.

I'm still working like crazy to get mine ready. Still a lot left to do.

Also, I owe you that front driveshaft. Let me know if you need it sooner rather than later. I'd like to swing by this weekend and if you have the time, have you tig a small part I need modified.

N.p. I will be doing some ac working in the morning, but should be home after that.

Matt the case was not to bad to open, I just watched the you tube video:smilewinkgrin:
there are lot of small parts in there, would be bad to have all the gears fall into a pile and needed to put back together. They used those flat washer looking bearings, thrust washers and cage bearings. I just opened the case slowly and took pic's just in case the jenga puzzle collapsed.

I did luck out that the gear was easy to remove without taking all the other gears out.

I called stak and left a message. I also called the only stak distributor I know of to see it they could get the gear.
They said the good news is stak does have parts on the shelves. The bad news is which shelf. He said its taken a month to get a part they have in stock.:mad2:

went to Craig's yesterday and got the steering stops welded in and modified the lip on the 14 bolt. Got my remote starter installed tonight. Last thing to do is get the cs144 installed.

Craig, is this the connector I need?

update. You need to move a pin in the connector from f to l. You just need a pointed tip to depress the holding pin and it will slide out and then push back into l slot.

I got the Scout insides all washed and cleaned up and painted the tail gate for a clean cooking surface. Got all the tools and spare parts packed. Frig is strap in place. I removed about 20lbs of spare parts and tools

to do list:
change the engine oil.
Install transfer case when gear arrives.
Pack camping gear and food.

At this point, yes, it looks like there will be several rigs going. You should check back as we get closer. It sounds like everyone is still working to get ready.

so, just to confirm, you guys are going sept 20-22 right? yes on the dates.

What is your plan for camping? I'm going to bring a tent.

As for where are we planning to camp. That depends on how fast we roll on Friday. Historical it's been buck, but that was due to the marlin group at the springs and folks with trailers. Currently I don't think we have any trail queens coming, and this trip is a week after the marlin group.

The good news is the trail will be a lot less busy
the bad news is we don't get front row seating to the carnage.

The meat bees were awful on the hell hole trip.
I suspect they will be just as bad on this trip.
Cooking after dark will help.

I got my replacement gear from stak:yesnod:
got the gear installed and put the t/c back together. I installed the t/c in the Scout last night as I had some help. Still need to set bearing preloads and assemble the shifter linkage, which is a pain as there is not a lot of room for your hands and wrenches. The plan is to have it up and running and possible test run at prairie city on Sunday.

Way to go Craig, wasn't so sure that gear was going to get here in time.

My Scout is almost ready to go, last thing to do is swap alternators. Just waiting for the connector wire to come from amazon, should be here tonight. Let me know if you guys go to prairie city, would like to test some of the steering mods I made before we hit the trail.

Craig, are you going to the cleanup this weekend?

Craig, are you going to the cleanup this weekend?

Yes, I will be up there sat on postpile reworking the water bars.

There will be some good raffle prizes too.

I sure hope I can get the rest put back together tonight, otherwise it will be Sunday morning. So maybe in the afternoon for pc?
