Rear Axle Carrier options

I have a 1977 Scout II with the infamous trac-loc carrier in the rear axle. There is a chunk missing out of one of the axle shaft gears, so it's going to need replacing.
There is no love for the trac-loc carrier and I have had no luck finding replacement spiders so I will be putting a new carrier in the axle.
I would like to stick with a limited slip since this will be mostly a street driver.

What are my options?
Can I put a posi-trac in the Scout d44 pumpkin?
I have found an Auburn carrier. Are they any good?
Should I put an open carrier in it and call it a day?

Advice needed, thanks!

Btw, first post!

The oem "upgrade" for the trac-loc is a power-loc. Did this upgrade on my Scout. The pluses are it is a stronger carrier, the minuses are it still chatters and if you find the right combination of oil to make the chatter go away, then it slips more than I'd like. When towing on a road with a lot of up hill switch backs it makes a lot of heat.

Thank you fdchappie!
I guess I will need to give IH america a call and see if they happen to have any power-loc's just lying around.

Can you tell a trash loc from a power lock without opening the cover? The tag was yanked from mine but it still has the posi-trac oil required tag.

I have trac lock spider gears. I actually have the whole thing. It is taken apart. If your interested let me know.

I believe your only option is to pull the cover.

Please correct me if I am wrong:
if I understand correctly, the trac-loc used two spider gears and the powr-loc used four. The trac-loc has one center pin, the powr-loc would have two center pins that intersect.

My father just bought a rusted out terra that "May" have a powr-loc carrier in it. I will be pulling the cover off in a few weeks to check on it.

You don't need to pull the cover to tell if it has a Powr-Lok or not. Just pull the fill plug and spin the differential. If you see bolts thru the hole then it's a Powr-Lok. No bolts equals open differential or trac-loc. If you know what a open differential looks like compared to a trac-loc you'll be able tell what it has just by how it looks thru the fill plug hole.
