driving scouts since 1992. Learned a thing or two along the way.
Anyway, glad to be here among friends.

Hello!

My name is walter, I live in salt lake city, utah. I heard about you guys on the pirate4x4's site and recently purchased a 1977 Scout II in July of 2008. I have always had a interest in off roading while watching my friends build their rigs and buggy's and helping out with some wrenching and things. I owned a 85' blazer and lifted it but wanted something cooler than this and went on a search for a rig that would fit my likeings and also something that would allow my fatazz to fit in it.
im from tongan decent but was born and raised here in slc, utah. Those of you who do know where tonga is located it is in the south pacific ocean made up of about 270 islands ubt the main land is called tongatapu location is around the equator and the International dateline. Tongas neighboring islands are the samoan isles and the fijian isles. I graduated from the university of utah in 2005 (go utes!!!!) with a b.s. In sociology and criminology, I did not use my degree in my career choice, I am a salesman for a&t bolt /anchoring systems we sell bolts and construction supplies. I hope to learn alot from you all about my Scout and what tips and suggestions you have to improve my rig.

My Scout:
345ci v8
4 speed t-427 manual transmission
dana20 transfer case
dana44's front and rear 3:54 gears (no lockers)
SOA with reverse shackle
35x12.50 r15 mickey thompson baja claws
15 x 8" alloy wheels
cv drivelines from sixstates dist.
Warn premium hubs

upgrades:
new ring & pinions 4:56 gearing
lockers for front and rear
full roll cage
new bumpers front and rear
rock sliders

thanks!

Hello all im jayson stay in hayward CA and soon to be owner of a 74 pickup 100 camper special cant wait to bring it home ill post a pic when I figgy it out

From norway, started with binders forum and ended up here after contacted mr mayben because of some severe carb. Problems (ie 2210).

Just ordered my 'mayben special treated' 2300 Holley, which soon will arrive I hope, great service so far!

The project in progress is a 1977 345 Scout manual t-19, which hopefully will see the light of day again within 2 or 3 years -wishfull thinking-.

Car is originally from switzerland, imported to germany round 2000 where it was 'fused' with a monteverdi sahara as parts car. Imported my Scout December 2007 to norway where it will undergo a minor restoration...

At the moment is progress slow, time is a luxury with 4 kids and full-time jobs for the 2 parents...

After viewing your website laurens, I just can't imagine what ya have to go through to play with these rigs! And we think we have difficulties in the states!!??

So the original pics you sent me some time back were very early shots, you have accomplished a tremendous amount of work, far more than I had expected!

Thanks for including us here at ihon in your IH family unit!

Jeff might need to look into establishing a norwegian subsidiary????

My thoughts exactly...

we have a thriving International community in our nabouring countries of sweden and danmark, norway is stil somewhat of an underdog in the International Harvester business though. Trying to get the norwegian owners to register, but they're somewhat reluctant.

In holland (where I am from) there are some fine examples left too and the interest is growing! So watch who you will sell your rides to; it might just happen they get exported to europe!

I've been on and off here for a while. I just found this thread so figured I'd post up and say "hi".

I found out about this place through michael mayben. He took me under his wing over on the bb when I was wrestling with my new Holley 2300 electric choke and he hasn't been able to get rid of me since.

I live in the middle of nowhere in westcentral indiana. My Dad bought my Scout new so it's been in our family it's whole life. Started life white with woodgrain stripes, then went to black, then primer for a while, and now silver/black. One of these day's I'll post up some before/after pics in a separate thread.

Keep up the great work Ismail's!! Whenever practical for me, you are my first stop for buyin' stuff!

-dave

Hello everyone. I am extremely new to the Scout world. I do not own one, but would like to. I am looking to get the basic knowledge of each of these beauties so that I can try to decide on what to buy. I live in tulsa, ok. I rarely see a Scout here, I had a friend who had one, but he brought it here from Colorado. He had the only one I can remember seeing around here. So, I have really enjoyed looking around the past couple days. This definitely seems like the place to be for Scout enthusiasts.

Checking in.

My name is Brian and I got bit by the IH bug about a year ago. Currently in north eastern oregon between the sage brush and the big pine covered mountains.

Here's my daily ride to work:

Jeremy here. Found this forum searching around for parts. I am purchasing a 62 Scout 80 that has a small block 350, sm420, and I think a Dana 20. I am also getting a shortened 44 and a shortened 60 with the Scout. Here is a pic.

That's funny. That's what my Dad used to call me.

I'm sure he's keepin' tabs. And I know you're proud of my rig and how guud it's runnin'. I am too.

You know you get my Scout if I kick before my time dontcha? The only stipulation is you gotta punch a hole in the oil pan and drive it back to oreegun!! Oh and you gotta take tate with ya!!! So what's worse do ya think...havin' a hole in the oil pan or have tate ridin' shotgun???

I'm bettin' my Dad's also a little worried about the company I'm keepin'!!

alright here we go. These are in chronological order. Pullin the tractor like that probably wasn't one of my best decisions, especially since it was only with a ball on a bumper but sometimes you gotta do wacha gotta do!

You always have the right answer!

Here's a pic of the tractor sans loader w/new head gasket and fresh head. Great little rig. Michael did all the work over email while I said "yes sir" and turned the wrenches. That was fun! The front end loader is way to much of a pita to put on and take off with any regularity. It's been off since I had the engine apart. I'd love to be able to use it but that's a job!

Hi all
yet another newbie posting. I found this site while looking for parts as did some of the other members in here.
Currently the proud owner of a 1972 Scout II which after many hours of pulling my hair out and limited funds, I got her started !! A lot of manual reading and wire tracing, after changing the dist cap, rotor, plugs, ignition wires, coil, and many hours reading the forum pages...she finally fired up!! I figured out that #1 firing order was outa whack, #2 compression tested fine but I started on the wrong cycle and ended up 180 out. I now know a few things about my Scout and learning more each time I dig into it. There are many times where I have gone "what in the name of.......was that guy thinking when he did this/that? But as it is called povs it is also called fun for me. I have enjoyed every min spent working on her and look forward to the day it is road ready.(which won't be long I hope)
I found her while looking for a fj40 (don't hate me now) and fell in love with her on site!, wife calls her the "other woman".
I got a hard to pass up deal for her and she's all mine now!
72 Scout II
345 engine
danna 30s?
Very bad SOA by po
very little rust minor pitting and only 1 quarter size rust through spot rear right hand side in tubb.
She's my diamond in the rough.
Thanks for the great site and future thanks for the replies I will no doubt receive when I need advise and help with her.

Just wanted to find out what's goin' on with the bb site & someone at our meeting today mentioned this fine group.

Mike m., we were hoping you could get back to this neck of the woods... Btw, a belated happy birthday!!!

Have a good day gentlemen, and I would expect a bit more traffic around here if the rumors floating around are true.

Kevin
