1000 appologies for the extremely short notice, but we're just not very organized down here. Scott sinner, myself and perhaps a couple other vehicles will be making a run on the mcgrew trail this coming weekend. (website link below)
mcgrew trail
The trail is still open to ohv use in spite of current fire restrictions. This is an overnight trip with primitive camping conditions in sourdough campground. As of today, fires are still permitted in approved pits at the campground, but it could easily be reduced to a cookstove and lantern show by this weekend. Is there running water available? Yes, it's called the north fork of the smith river which is right nearby. There is also one sheltered outhouse on site. This trail was originally part of the overland stage route from jacksonville to san francisco. You can literally walk in the wagon ruts of history at one point on the trail. It winds through a large portion of the massive biscuit complex burn of several years ago. We will be meeting at the market/post office in o'brien Saturday morning at ?am. I'll update the meeting time as soon as that information becomes available. Feel free to contact either myself at 541/8-four-0/four-3-zero-2 or scott sinner at 541/6-zero-1/zero-9-one-7 with any questions. It would be great to be joined by a northern contingent, but I understand the challenges posed by the short notice and the travel distance. I felt compelled to extend the invitation anyway.
