1000 appologies for the extremely short notice, but we're just not very organized down here. Scott sinner, myself and perhaps a couple other vehicles will be making a run on the mcgrew trail this coming weekend. (website link below)

The trail is still open to ohv use in spite of current fire restrictions. This is an overnight trip with primitive camping conditions in sourdough campground. As of today, fires are still permitted in approved pits at the campground, but it could easily be reduced to a cookstove and lantern show by this weekend. Is there running water available? Yes, it's called the north fork of the smith river which is right nearby. There is also one sheltered outhouse on site. This trail was originally part of the overland stage route from jacksonville to san francisco. You can literally walk in the wagon ruts of history at one point on the trail. It winds through a large portion of the massive biscuit complex burn of several years ago. We will be meeting at the market/post office in o'brien Saturday morning at ?am. I'll update the meeting time as soon as that information becomes available. Feel free to contact either myself at 541/8-four-0/four-3-zero-2 or scott sinner at 541/6-zero-1/zero-9-one-7 with any questions. It would be great to be joined by a northern contingent, but I understand the challenges posed by the short notice and the travel distance. I felt compelled to extend the invitation anyway.

I can't go this time -- but just a question for the future --

is there anywhere to park a truck and trailer safely near the trailhead? My Scout is less than street friendly and making the 300 mile trip down there driving the Scout would really suck :d

Trev and me talked about another joint venture trail run just Monday! And then he pops up with this after he leaves!

I'd be in if it was any other weekend...but we gotta commitment for an extension class outta binder u. At drew's place on fridiy/satidy.

Guess trev's feelin' pretty full of hisownself now that he's gotta mixer that mixes andda koolkoil??? But the real test will come once he lerns how ta spel "spare parts".

Let's think aboutta long weekend run maybe in early nov. Say around crescent lake? That's where me and greg and julia played a few summers ago. And it's about halfway between them suthern kidz and the northern crew.

Hi chris. Yeah, I imagine most of yawl from anywhere north of hoseburg would want to bring a trailer queen. I don't remember seeing a true staging area at the trailhead, but there must be some such accomodations nearby. Last year I encountered several rockbuggys with full exocages. I know they must have been trailered there from somewhere. I can dam sure find out.

Mike - this is a trip scott and I have been talking about off and on since we ran it last year. Life and constantly changing vehicle conditions have repeatedly gotten in our way. The window to run this trail is dam short. It doesn't open 'til July 1 and closes in October (sometimes earlier) to prevent the spread of port orford root rot. Thangs came together for this weekend kinda sudden-like. Hooty's ready though. Hez actin' like ol' max droppin' a ball at yer feet and growlin' 'til you kick it fer him. A weekend run in the fall at a somewhat central location would be sweet!!! Just gotta stay away from 11/22 - 30. That's when I be chasin' them stinkin' wahpeetees!

We're planning on being in o'brien by 7:30am to air down and give things a last looksee. Should be making our way to the trailhead by 8.

Man I hate it when root rot gits in tha way of stuff! So do ya gotta take a backpak sprayer full of bleach and douche tha meats at every stop? Will desinex work? Does root rot lead to genital warts?
