INTRODUCTIONS

Hi all, newbie here. Just acquired a 1966 Scout 800 sportop. It's in great shape, recently refurbished, but I'm hoping to get a couple projects going on it. Looking forward to meeting everyone.

Welcome to babs. I know the vehicle you purchased and it is truly beautiful. I almost bought it for my wife. Enjoy the truck. I look forward to seeing it again and meeting you.

Hello everyone,
I bought my 67 800 last September. Been collecting parts ever since. Just started the cut & turn on a Dana 44 spring over with a Scout II d44 in the rear. Have a Chevy TBI, 4l60e, and Jeep d300 for power train. It's going in the garage for dis assembly moch up and fabrication in the next couple of weeks. Will be nice to see some progress after a winter of parts collection and studying.
Luckily I live in Nevada City so I can get parts and talk to Jeff and the gang in person, they are a wealth of knowledge.
Look forward to talking to everyone on the board and hopefully meeting some of you in person.
Damian

welcome. That is a beautiful Scout to start with. I May be biased as my scouts are all 80s or 800s.

I feel the same way my '69 800a with it's shorter wheel base and narrower stance than the bigger Scout iis just feels like more of a pure wheeler.

Welcome all.

Ok, now I must be obsessed. Not more than a few months later and I've added another Scout to the stable. Just picked up this modified 1965 red carpet Scout - it won the 2011 sunflower show in the modified category since it now has a Ford 302 wedged in the front end. Fabrication looks decent. I know very little about the 302 swap so I'll post some pictures of the engine bay for others can comment.

The engine block # suggests it's a Ford 302 from 1975, likely a torino or similar. Not what you would consider a street racing engine, but...

The truck still has a three speed manual with dual stick transfer case as well as an overdrive. Again, I have little knowledge of how the conversion was done, so without taking lots of pieces apart, I can't tell what connections/linkages, etc were used.

Welcome adam. Great group of nutcases.... Ooops, I meant guys up in here. There's a couple other members on here that's in your neck of the woods. Not only is this a great source of info, but also a great source for parts. IH Parts America, who host this forum, are top notch for service
