INTRODUCTIONS

hi all, newbie here. Just acquired a 1966 Scout 800 sportop. It's in great shape, recently refurbished, but I'm hoping to get a couple projects going on it. Looking forward to meeting everyone.

Josh

Ok, now I must be obsessed. Not more than a few months later and I've added another Scout to the stable. Just picked up this modified 1965 red carpet Scout - it won the 2011 sunflower show in the modified category since it now has a Ford 302 wedged in the front end. Fabrication looks decent. I know very little about the 302 swap so I'll post some pictures of the engine bay for others can comment.

The engine block # suggests it's a Ford 302 from 1975, likely a torino or similar. Not what you would consider a street racing engine, but...

The truck still has a three speed manual with dual stick transfer case as well as an overdrive. Again, I have little knowledge of how the conversion was done, so without taking lots of pieces apart, I can't tell what connections/linkages, etc were used.

Welcome adam. Great group of nutcases.... Ooops, I meant guys up in here. There's a couple other members on here that's in your neck of the woods. I'm basically a hop skip and a jump across the bridge from ya. If you're ever down in the east bay let me know. Some times I hold IH work days here 8n my cave for the local babs crew.

Not only is this a great source of info, but also a great source for parts. IH Parts America, who host this forum, are top notch for service

I'm here most all fridays through sundays crawled up under one of my scouts or hovering over some one else's. No dues or fees to join. Occasionally I hold IH work days/bbq here. Door be open for any IH to swing by and hang out

Thx..... And right on...I will keep that in mind for future weekeds. Always could use some help with stuff when I get stuck and feel like pulling all the hair out...lol....

I can relate. I'm currently working on two of my rigs at the same time. Had another part delivered today for my 73 beast. If you aint busy on the weekends you're welcome to swing by anytime

Hi, my husband and I are new to the area, we are working on a 75' Scout II. She's not running at the moment, we're rewiring the whole thing(three rolls of electrical tape and counting). We are so excited meet other Scout owners. Is anyone going to the truck show up in brooks, or. On the 23rd.
-Mike and alex tittsworth.

Welcome aboard!
The brooks show is past. The Sierra Fall Rallye is coming up - see the forum for that. Deadline for discounted motel is September 23nd. Camping on teh farigrounds is available.
Lots of IH stuff: trucks,
scouts and more. Lots of parts. Lots of knowledgeable people. Parts suppliers. Trail runs. Truck games. Fun for kids as well. Good food, too.

We also have the Bay Area Binder Society (babs) meet monthly irregularly watch the forum for date.

hello? Hello? Anyboy in the sf bay area home?:)

Prolly hiding under a Scout somewhere. Welcome
I'm across the bay from ya. I don't have any bumpers for your baby Scout., but do have several pairs for its bigger cousin "Scout II "
might help posting up a different thread under "parts wanted" section for what you're looking for
cheers

Thanks for the tip scooter, hello ray. Does the local group still meetup? Any events or shows on the 2015 calendar?

Last question...is there an info source or index for crossover parts you recommend? Napa? O'reilly?

Hello-

I'm in concord and I'm looking to buy an r110 or similar era truck. I'm here to get as much info as possible and find places in the bay area that have parts or know how to work on these suckers.

Any advice or info is appreciated!

There is a monthly babs meeting that normally gets posted up in the babs section of what date it will be held. Due to my work schedule I haven't been able to attend the meetings. I'm not sure of cross breeding of a parts listing, but for the most part, most of the chain store auto parts places are hit or miss if they actually have parts or the quality.

Welcome
I'm right over the hill, closer to the bay, from ya. I'm more familiar with the scouts than I am with the trucks from the era. Might be able to get more info from the guys up at IHPA. Might even post up questions in the basic tech section.

Hi all,
I'm new to the Scout world and am in the process of putting together a '76 family four wheeler. I enjoyed the fall rallye in Grass Valley this past weekend and would be interested in taking part in some of your 4 wheel trips. I'm up in petaluma.
Luke

hello luke, I graduated from petaluma high in '78 now up in hopland. What IH iron do you have?

Hi I have a 1976 Scout II and a 1972 Scout II. The 76 has a 4" lift and 33" tires. The next project on it is rebuild and regear the axles. The 72 Scout is stock but has some rust issues (what's new)
I usually run through hopland on my way up to lake county to go goof off on the weekends.

Well if you want to take the old toll rd instead of 175, your welcome to stop by and say hi. Pm me for details.
