Count on it. But it we be next time we all meet up because it is not public forum approved. :ihih:

Now this is the kind of picture fiesta that should accompany a trip like this. You wheelers are setting a benchmark for the rest of IHSTO. Now if only we could get something even near that to the dunes trip or obdr or any other events not attended by IHSTO outlaw pirate wheeling wrecking and crawling crew.

I see that uber didn't throw a shoe this trip. Kind of like making all 18 holes with the same ball.:icon_heartbeat:

I gathered as much. Hooty's fa is still in severe pain from his trip north last month. I've circled around the problem at least one full time and have settled (for the time being at least) on keeping things stock. I'm bidding on most of the necessary replacement parts and god willing I'll end up with them. Until then, planning a wheeling trip is the furthest thing from my mind. If a mcgrew run materializes, it will be very last minute in true fwb fashion. Time is running out and a lot of stars will have to come into perfect alignment in order for that to happen. Don't hold your breath. We might have to come up with an alternative trip to unite north and south before the end of the year.

Drew,

you're kinda looking ahead to the "end game" get something you can wheel and bring it out, then wheel it. Who cares if you don't have lockers or the 35's just get out and wheel and you'll have a good time. There stuff at browns camp that a stock 2wd Scout II could do and it's all on the way to the hard stuff. So you wheel, you learn what you need to make your rig better and improve it as you go. If you concentrate too much on the end game, the only place you'll ever wheel is a place called 4 jack stands (ty bill usn-1).

Since I was following you guys here a couple more pic's.

Fun trip, had a little carnage, but I drove it home. Busted shock, leaking power steering box and tore brakeline. Had a great time, was tired the next day at the rallye.

drew,

Carl, I simply meant that this forum post showing all the activity and cool stuff they did would be a benchmark in communicating the experiences they had. I was contrasting this thread to the lack thereof in terms of obdr and dunes coverage.

As for wheeling... I have no intention of taking any of my own rigs through rocks like that. That's what the passenger seat in uber is for.

Ahhh....okay I understand! Lol

Uber did real well. He has a few more scars and May have suffered some sort of internal injury. When we hit the top of committie crossing he was bleading out of his transfer case. :confused5: but he did get us off the trail.

As for the fire wagon status...yesterday I pulled the governed distributor down for inspection (it's a Holley version with no tach drive. Didn't pull the gear off so the shaft could be extracted since there is no press up here in Grass Valley (yet), but I will finish disassembly this afternoon down at the shop.

It appears this unit was overhauled in the past and the drive gear was shimmed way too tightly (not allowing for expansion of the body casting due to heat). Hopefully the removal of the gear will free it up and no damage was done to the lower bushing.

The top segment of the unit appears ok and the "spinner valve" still functions, so this was not caused by lack of lubrication through that oiler port at the top.

Be sure to save the p-tron module and send down to Jeff at some point, he can re-install later and then run this distributor if desired.

Before I leave here, we'll make sure the donkey motor starts and runs ok so that the rig can be water-loaded and pressed into service when needed.

Navyjoe had a great time driving it back down from lake francis and we both agree that possibly the firefight apparatus needs to be put onna skid for easy off/on, then a bed-mounted camper can be slung on the azzend!

And navybill is ready to go with an efi setup on it!
