IHSTO @ IHSFR

as for the fire wagon status...yesterday I pulled the governed distributor down for inspection (it's a Holley version with no tach drive. Didn't pull the gear off so the shaft could be extracted since there is no press up here in Grass Valley (yet), but I will finish disassembly this afternoon down at the shop.

It appears this unit was overhauled in the past and the drive gear was shimmed way too tightly (not allowing for expansion of the body casting due to heat). Hopefully the removal of the gear will free it up and no damage was done to the lower bushing.

The top segment of the unit appears ok and the "spinner valve" still functions, so this was not caused by lack of lubrication through that oiler port at the top.

Be sure to save the p-tron module and send down to Jeff at some point, he can re-install later and then run this distributor if desired.

Before I leave here, we'll make sure the donkey motor starts and runs ok so that the rig can be water-loaded and pressed into service when needed.

Navyjoe had a great time driving it back down from lake francis and we both agree that possibly the firefight apparatus needs to be put onna skid for easy off/on, then a bed-mounted camper can be slung on the azzend!

And navybill is ready to go with an efi setup on it!

Seems strange that it would run as long as it did if it was shimmed to tight. But you are the master. I was always going to FI it also. In fact I have a harness that I started braking down but just never finished it.

Had a great time and it was cool meeting some new people. Here are the pics I got. I had my personal camera man so I only have pics of my truck.

how did uber get the name, uber?

Well it all started in grade school. There was this Jeep named chuck that used to pick on green Scout and steal his gas money every day. Well this went on for a few years until one day green Scout realized how much bigger and stronger he had become then the little Jeep chuck. So the next day when chuck n. The Jeep came around to take green scouts gas money. Green Scout said today it stops. So he and chuck n. The Jeep headed for the playground to settle things. Followed by the entire car lot all chanting “fight fight fight” so they make their way out back and green Scout lays the smack down on ‘norris the Jeep” the other cars all start chanting “uber Scout” “uber Scout” uber Scout”! As chuck n. The Jeep lay in a pool of his own atf. That was the last time chuck came to school. Rumor was that he went down to CA to hide out in a movie studio parking lot. But from that day forward green Scout was known as uber Scout.:p

He left out the part about uber taking steroids and having bionic surgery. :dita:

If by steroids you mean ninja tree guards and bionic surgery you mean fuel injection then yes. Uber wouldn't be able to pass a piss test from the pro baseball players union.:yikes: even bonds can get over on one of those.

lol…all righty.
How come uber doesn't have his own license plate?

He has been aproched by an oil company to endorse his own line of 'uber oil" but the deal hasn't been struck yet. :ihih: as for the license plate......his owner is a tight ass and won't spend the $$ on the bling...:ciappa:

more juice?

Na the juice is fine. Uber needs more flex and he is hard on rear axles. So I had Jeff get me the new RuffStuff custom 9" housing. :ihih: that will be one of the 2.0 mods. I have a few others in store too. My fab guy was over yesterday and he is home making some sketches today. I'll start a re-build thread once I'm under way. ..

Uber 2.0 = quick release body panels for the trail, quick release wheel hubs and fan mounts. Built in drawers for spare parts storage. A "crows nest" seat mounted on top where the less desirable navigators will sit and push tree branches away from uber.:yesnod:

Uber 2.0 is going to be lean and mean...no drawers for storage.:hand: I'm going to hire a homeless guy to follow me around with spare parts. I'll pay him with 1/2 empty beer cans...:p

Which brings us back to the original issue…we need a longer ramp for the linked up scouts.

Uber gonna git limber pert soon!! Give the ub'ster a message for me…..he love it. He’ll take ya on a ride you won’t forget.

Be careful, you might actually end up with one of those unionized, gilded, cardboard panhandlers who make more than you do and they might decide to use the parts for their own rig. Probably a Jeep. Then you might find yourself afoul of the cardboard panhanlder's guild/union and get spit on every time you hit an offramp.

Best to drive through a day laborers gathering.

And for those of us with flexy leaf spring suspensions. I drove to the end of the ramp last year. Maybe adding another 16-24inches would help.:yesnod:

I think monte will have something to say about that crows nest.
