345 to 392 AFI adjustments?

I bought an afi system a few years ago for a 345, put it on a 304 (lol) and ended up with an ic 392. What adjustments will I need to make? Can I use the existing tb and just buy a new chip? Also will a mallory dizzy work with it or no?

I know I've seen these questions answered before but I can't remember which forum it was in.

What system did you buy?
If you already ran it on a 304 then use the same distr from it.

Lots of adjautments needed and you "should" go with the 454tb but you can run it with what you have but...you won't have the top end power from the 392. Not enough air and you will need to bump the fuel pressure with the 350 injectors..

I'm sure this is a dumb question, but how do I bump the fuel pressure up on a TBI setup? I was never impressed with the adjustable pressure regulators I bought for my tpi cars. And do I still need to bump the pressure if I use the 454 TBI unit?

Most of my use of this engine will be low end grunt, crawling around on rocks, short blasts thru a mud pit...not very much high rpm running at all. My main problem with the setup I had was fouling plugs.

The afi setup I bought included everything I needed to convert my Holley dizzy to duraspark (which has been awesome), a good used TBI unit, and all new sensors, with an afi chip burned for a 345, and the complete wiring harness.

Bill has a sticky on the bb on making a stock TBI fuel regulator adjustable. Do you have any logged data from before?

You will need to know the inj's, fuel pressure and engine size to calc the bpw prior to starting to log data.
This will set the baseline in the bin that all other fuel distribution is based on.

I checked all of my TBI units and I have 1-2.8 unit, 1-4.3 unit, and 4-5.7 units all with the 55lb/hr injectors in them. Stumbled across your injector indent. Page ....awesome!! So I have till the middle of May to get the 392 running properly. Looks like I'm gonna have to buy a laptop, aldl cable, and a bbc TBI unit, lol. Anything else?

Well I don't have any burning equipment yet and the budget doesnt exactly allow for it at this time, so I'm guessing I'm gonna have to get by this time with a stock 454 chip for this mudrun. I have resisted diving off into custom chip building as long as I can. It opens a whole new world of things I need to learn, and frankly I don't have much time to learn a brand new skill right now, lol. Next year May be a different story.

I just assumed, since I'm running a 392 with an rv cam, headers, cold air intake, and free flowing exhaust...that the 454 tb and chip would make as close a match as I'm gonna get for this run. I dont have a laptop yet (although I've got my eye on one) so I can't log data just yet....but it's coming.

Woohoooo just scored an alienware laptop for $200....next on the list, aldl cable.....after that...need more input, must learn everything billusn1 knows....tomorrow

Bill one of these days I'd like to pick your brain about another project...but I have alot of reading to do first.

My aldl will be here mon. Hopefully I can find a 454 TBI by then and log some data next week. Can't wait

Another question before I start buying too many parts, my snorkel is approx 3" I.d. Going into a stock IH air cleaner. Will this flow enough air to feed the 392? My hunch is, it will be plenty, but I thought I'd double check with the experts.

Is this an "apple" computer?

what's alienware?

I could use a spare logging laptop.

Holy cow, talk about your good weeks...just scored an fmc spin balancer and coats rc-15a tire changer as well as many other handy goodies today.

Alienware builds imo the finest gaming computers on earth. It will be far more than I need for a logging pc...w00t
