For those that read some of the offroad magazines available and follow some of their runs, for this years 2014 ultimate adventure petersen's 4wheel & offroad has chosen 12 semi-finalists to go on the trip. Of those 12 two are Scout's and of those two Scout's one is our own 1973 Scout II. Please take a moment to go to the ultimate adventure article and leave a comment for the two Scout's as the more comments a vehicle receives the better chance it has in attending the trip. Of these 12 semi-finalists only 4 will be making the actual trip. Wouldn't it be awesome to see two Scout's go on this trip(let alone one) as an IH has never been on the ultimate adventure.

Jeff, just leave comments in the comment section below the list or is there some place specific?

Done and done. I laid down the friggin' law about Jeff's ride in the comments section. I got the chance to ride in this Scout a couple days back. Kinda scared me a little. Not in a severe off camber, about to barrel roll or brakes failing kind of way. No, it was more of a "hey Jeff, shouldn't I have a full race harness if we're going to go back in time?" and "hey Jeff, I'm trying like hell to grab that $20 bill you put on the dash in front of me, but these g forces exerted by your 392 in response to your heavy damn right foot have pinned me to the seat so I can't reach it. Damn your teasing hide!" hope you win Jeff. That would be great for the biz and great for the breed too.

Jeff:
you are going to need a rolling support crew with you so I'm volunteering my 1300 service truck: it will have a fresh 392 and plenty of room for spares! Besides, I wanna go too!
Doc

Thanks doc. Unfortunately I got the call today that I did not make the final four. Still a chance I might go if someone drops out but for now this will not be the year.

I May be new to the IH scene, but I am amazed that scouts and other IH products are dismissed as antiquated and irrelative in today's off road world. It is likely that jeepers, new truck owners, and toyota owners are afraid to be embarrassed by our trucks that have not been built in over 30 years. Jeff it is a travesty that you were not selected. We should advocate for cornbinders in all manner of off road related events.

That is shocking to me, there was a lot of IH support in the comments section. Every 4x4 magazine is 98% tj's and jk's and articles about what axel to swap in to them with a hemi conversion. Month after month. Im sure this ultimate adventure will be no different. Us IH folks lost this round but it doesn't mean we have to quit. How would an IH Parts America ultimate adventure sound? Maybe put our own together do a multi state trail run post it all on face book or what ever social media the kids are doing these days. Bet it would be a popular event.

Hold off on the pitchfork protest as we still don't know if Matt bokan and his Scout made it or not.
