2014 Ultimate Adventure

O.k. Well it sucks your truck didn't get in but I actually like the trucks they picked other than the newer Jeep...but half their readers probaby drive one so I get it. I love my binders but I'm a junky of all things mechanical and I'm not totally brand loyal.

Fullsize Bronco pretty much beefed up stock drivetrain...I'm good with that.

Jeep scrambler....at least it's a little different but :icon_sad:

willys is cool with the flat belly and it seems the dude has been doing more with homegrown creativity than just throwing cash at it. Ie stock 30 Dana 18 etc.

Scout...oh hell yeah !!!!!

Blazer....at least it's a full size something not my favorite

2005 dodge..a little different, dudes a vet...o.k. I'm all good with it.

Congrats to Matt. At least the brand will be represented. Perhaps it will be the beginning of a trend. Lets hope so.

it's official - a Scout will be joining this year's ultimate adventure. Congrats to Matt bokan for making the final cut.

2014 ultimate adventure - the final six

Thanks, Jeff and thank you for the parts needed to get it up and ready! I've had it out shaking it out and everything seems to be going pretty good.

So here's to hoping it stays together for a week!! And yes, that is an original triple diamond logo off of a 1928 6 speed special I have now on the aluminium grill.

the rig is looking awesome!! I'm loving that light bar (need details).

Did they announce the route yet?

The big 50" is just an ebay special, the rest are all rigids. The 50 is on a homemade set of mounts.

If by route you mean the start and end points, then yes they have. That is all that I will know.

The Scout is looking great Matt! I hope you have an awesome trip! If they allow you to and you have the time we would love to see some pictures along the way next week.

Thanks! I will do what I can. Photos are allowed, just 1 day later, and then has to include a link back to their webpage.

What a trip!!

Need to get some pictures and videos off the camera. But it was a blast.

I'm beat and broke much like the truck but I would do it again in a heartbeat.

Trip itself was 1400 miles, plus another 1000 miles to get there and back home. Nebraska, iowa, illinois, and Missouri were the destinations. 1st road day we covered 700 miles in 1 shot.

Lost a fan clutch, alternator, Holley pro jection ecu so I had to swap on a carb to keep going, msd box died, bent both rear main leaves, pcv plugged on the way home, bent the transmission crossmember, and plenty of tread worn off the tires.

So I will add more as I have time but here are a couple of pictures to get you guys started...

Glad you guys had a blast and made it home safe. Saw some pictures on various sites and that massive carnage from the flipped blazer. Look forward to seeing some more pictures and video footage. Any idea when the video is due out?

Yeah the blazer was bad, and I hope to never see/hear anything that violent again.

I am gathering up more pictures and videos and will put them all in one spot for everyone to see.

Magazine coverage is the nov and dec issues, youtube is dec, and dvd is spring, I think.

wow, what a trip. Good job.
What was up with all the electrical issues? Heat, water?

Alternator was god knows how old, plus I had to screw my fan clutch down as it failed and I needed the fan to move and cool things. So having it spin as I crossed the river (twice) flung water everywhere.

But not 100% sure. Digging around now that I am home, it looks like the ecu is fine, and it was the tps on the Holley efi that died. We had a narrow window to get up and going again, so couldn't troubleshoot they way I would have liked. Msds go out with no warning, as that is now my 2nd that has up died without warning.

Plus, the road day where most of that happened was 700 miles, in a rain storm. That truck hasn't ever seen more than 350 miles in 1 day.

Ua will find all the weak spots you never knew your truck had
