Summer Trip

Continued from the rubicon thread. Any one interested in a trip this summer? There was talk of hell hole the first weekend of August.

Let's plan this.

Sigh  :(

I'm missing good trips. I would love to go, kinda going through withdraws over here. But, it seems that I'm moving at a snails pace to get my rig going. Been kind of stuck on slug the past week or two. I just might get more progress next week if bart goes on strike. Since that's my only mode of transportation to and from work. :mad2:

if the trip happens - enjoy

That weekend works for me. My nephew from italy will be here, so my son, my nephew and I are in. May be if we post in the Sierra Scouts and norcal forums others might come out. This is going to be an overnighter...right?

If you need a ride, let me know. I could pick you up on the way. Be happy to have the company.

I was thinking Friday through Sunday, anything less isn't long enough. We could also hit up slick rock. Hell hole is evidently a short trail but the camping is really good.

Looking for a relaxing time, a mix of camping and wheeling is what I'm after.

Thank you for the offer. But I think I'm sol at the moment. Kinda put myself in the middle of fabbing up a cart on wheels for my bender. Since I recently upgraded it to hydraulics, I no longer need it to be bolted to the floor. Plus it will give me a little more flexibility and room.

I hear that. I May even bring a canoe! Check this out to get you going: jeepin' and yakin' on hellhole reservoir on vimeo

Bummer kimbal. If you change your mind...

Love the video, can't wait for the trip. I have a raft, what a way to waste a Saturday. How old is your son, my youngest is 7, he wants to go too.

I know Jesse wanted to do hell hole, but I'm not sure where he is on his so and axle swap.

Is Craig out that weekend?

I was actually not planning on bringing ben but if you've got your son going. He doesnt mind playing with a 4 year old? You plan on staying two nights? I think Craig is out, somthing about cutting down trees.

How was the trip?

As much as I would have liked to get out of town for a couple days, I needed to finish up a project that I mentally had in the works for a few months that I finally got around to making. A cart on wheels for my bender and tube notcher. Not 100% completed yet, but functional. Now on to wrenching on one of my scouts.

Doh!!!

Probably more like me not paying attention, or something. August 2-4 May work for me. I most likely won't have my beast drivable by then. I May even have that whole week off. Unless I end up scrounging up some side work.

Do we have some specific departure dates?

I see aug 3rd is sat and aug 4th is Sunday.

I need to know asap if I need schedule that Friday or follow Monday off from work.

Going in via hwy 80 turning off at Auburn would be fastest and use less gas. Even for me and I live off of hwy 50

X2. Arrive Friday and leave Sunday. The drive from the 80 is long, slow windy roads that go on for ever. Let me look at my maps.

Its the 21st century, my maps are all on line. So yea man, your right. The 80 has forty miles of twists and turns where the 50 has more like 60 miles. Highway 80 is the way.

What time Friday do you plan to pass through sac? Craig and I could meet you somewhere and we can head up the rest of the way together.

Ideally I'd like to leave first thing in the morning but we get back from kansas the day before. It'll depend on how motivated I am before our trip. I've got some maintenance to do, got some new tires to install, get the top back on, pack, ect...

I'll make it happen, I'd rather not hit the trail solo.
