Work Day May 9th

Thats what I thought I could do just flip the plate. Anyway my cousin just gave me three quadra jet carbs and one of them is ready to be put on so I'll have that for the work day.

Doc, I'll take two batteries as well. I just sent you an e-mailed too. Thanks for this. I'll be at the work day for sure.

This is turning out to be quite a party.

IH gal: I have brake equipment. Bring a quart of dot4 brake fluid. We will get it flushed. I won't be there until afternoon.

my Dad and I are brining a weilder.I have a thermo quad carb that came with my new manifold and I just got a holly 750 double pumper carb from my uncle as a birthday gift the problem is the 750 is its a squar bore and I know theres is an adapter plate to go from a squar bore to spread bore but is there one that goes from spread to squar, also my cousin is gana give me a quadra jet carb . I need help on witch one is the best to put on. P.s. My Dad wants to know what type of metal May be needed he might be able to get a hold of some

Just a word of advice...a Holley double pumper of any configuration will not mount to any ihc sv engine, no matter what "adapter" is used. It's right at one inch too long in the fuel bowl area and will have major interference with the thermostat housing/water neck. The only way to do this would be relocate the water outlet system or use at least a 2.5" spacer under the carb which puts it through the hood.

And there is probably no carburetor any more unsuitable for a stock sv engine than any version of a double pumper! And it's not just a matter of "jetting", it's far more complicated than that. Those carbs are calibrated for motors making in the range of 450+ hp above 4000rpm.

They are gorgeous to set on the coffee table and look at though.

With much respect to michael, there are four barrel hollys that fit IH sv8s. They are frequently called 'double pumpers' but they are not the big racing carbs. Bring your carb to the work day, we will sort it out.

It just hit me I need new manifold gasckets and a gascket for my new quadra jet carb. Can any one help me with that. I hope it doesnt rain next weekend, seeing as how I polled the top off my Scout and we have a lot of tools to hall up that cant get wet

p.s. Pete you still want us to bring up the rear springs

Of course there are 4v holleys that work on 4v sv engine intakes, they came oem with both 4150 sidehungs and 4160 sidehungs...hot air choke and divorced choke.

A "double pumper" is manufactured only with center hung fuel bowls doc! And there are three different design/types of centerhung bowls, one for chevrolet inlet pattern, one of the "cobras" style and the classic centerhung as used in the aftermarket apps. Other bowl designs are available in the aftermarket chain for these carbs, mostly from the clone suppliers.

Yes... A side hung 4150 could be juryrigged with a dual pump setup which would be about the most inappropriate carburetor for any IH motor short of a fullrace build.

Any sidehung 4150/4160 with the smaller "square" pattern flange will bolt to any IH 4v manifold...but any rated at more than 670cfm "currently" will hang the throttle plates in the intake manifold if it's not opened up or a tapered throat spacer used. These carbs won't work on the early non-egr 4v manifolds unless a minimum 1/2" spacer is used to raise it, the throttle arm will not clear the driver side of the manifold.

A centerhung 2v carb (list 0-7448) will work onna 2v sv intake manifold because the manifold mounting flange/plenum is offset to the rear as compared to a 4v manifold.

If you wanna see a pic of why a centerhung 4v Holley will not fit an sv intake system, I'll post one! The carb I have is not a double pumper but is a dual inlet/centerhung version. The boss for the secondary accel pump is cast into the secondary bowl, but it is not fully machined for the pump system.

Any version of a double pumper would dump so much raw fuel into an sv manifold onna stocker motor, it would immediately swamp the cylinders and douse the flame, no matter how it was tuned!

A "double pumper" is a Holley 4150 series mixer equipped with centerhung fuel bowls (dual fuel inlets) and a fully functional accel pump system for both the primary system and the secondary system. And ...it must have a double pumper shooter system installed including main body drillings for fuel transfer from the secondary pump.

Carb in this thread is not a double pumper, but is a dual inlet/center hung bowl setup. And this one is the "small" Holley 4v modular mixer, not the much larger 4500/dominator series:

Rock: the batteries delivered to me are all group 27 sized, not the group 31 I thought they were delivering. The malker is 'maderite' by 'dynasty' agm technology.

The price is the same. Please let me know it you still want 5 at the work day.

Michael: no criticism or questioning of your part intended, I was concerned that the fellow might think as many do, that any 4bbl holly is a "double pumper'.

Doc you still need those pickup truck gas tanks?

I'm interested in a couple battery's too.:yesnod:

I still need to figure out this week work schedule. Will know for sure here shortly.

I have a set of rear leaf springs with the mains missing if anybody just wants to add a leaf or 2 for stiffing up 30 year old springs. I have front springs packs too.

I can bring my 4.5" dewalt plasma cutter.

I most likely won't be at the work day, but I'd like to get one of these. I can paypal you or mail you check and get it later.

Let me know if that is ok.

Craig, yes, I'd like to have those gas tanks. I haven't been up your way to get them. I'll have two batteries at the work day for you.

Mocha Mike: after the work day, I May not have any left. Contact me at dfsdc@pacbell.net After the 9th.
