Weekend accomplishments 10/25-10/26

Like the title!
I tried unsuccessfully to get my fuel gauge working for the second time!
put on my trans skid plate, flywheel cover, welded up a bracket to stop my tire carrier from bouncing while driving, also made some brackets, but these were for jerry cans that will go on each side of the roll bar. Made a trip down to maybenville to pick up a loaner carb for the 196. Had to do some baseplate swapping to get it to fit the manifold, but we ended up with it working. The engine runs beautifully now, except I need to screw in the idle screw a bit farther, as I ran out of time and had to get back to the dorms!
picked up an el cheepo 4" air cleaner to put on the Holley, but hey it works. Oh, I made a cart for my air compressor as well out of an old go kart frame. Just needs some new tires and it would be golden!

But I did get #4 michael a carb that don't puke, and the don a carb and distributor that will play nice together.
Toddjo brought up a new 80457 Holley and we stuck it on the f-150/250 highboy he's resurrectin' up here for the solid lifter 352, and the steering shaft bell joint now actually has parts inside of it so the thang will go purdeee straight down the road. Then it went down tha road for it's maiden voyage, everthang in the steering that moves is wore out but overall it moves real fine, motor is strong though the oil pressure is kinda low. Ain't nuthin' sweeter than solid lifters soundin' likea industrial sewin' machine! Once that wuz done we swallered whole that pot roast in the crock pot I'd been babysittin' for neighborcarol all day. And dave came down and supervised everthang and then made sure we didn't starve by treatin' us to a trip to see tha gurls at vida cafe.
Todd's Ford is gittin' real close to bein' able ta make tha 50 mile run to veneta so he'll have it at home where he can make more progress. Him and dave decoded tha axles and he's all excited now ta know they be 4.10. He done found a complete pto setup off a similar rig complete witha ramsey winch for dam near free, so that looks like it's in the cards.
Got about 150 assorted push rods cleaned and ready to sort, and 50+ rocker stands finished up. Along with 7 loads of laundry, I kin doubletask when pressed.

Purchased a good, used tow bar setup on satiday so's I can drag hooty behind big red up tuh the big trask sandbox. Still got a little fabbin' to do before it's ready for prime time. The fwb/sos crew took a wheelin' trip on Sunday. No mud, but lotsa dust. I'm happy to report that the high quality rpt tranny mount from our friends at ihon completely cured my nagging t-case poppin' outta low range sitcheeyashun. Evidently that whole deal ain't s'posed tuh flop around under there like a foul hooked salmon on 20# test.
The mayben mods to my carb improved off camber and extreme angle performance, but she still crapped out on me more than I'd care for. May need the carb king tuh do some hocus pocus on my float levels once the rust train arrives in sheridan.
For the first time ever, all 4 scouts in the crew ended the day with zero mechanical issues or breakdowns. Talk about a banner day! The worst thing that happened was I poked a hole in one tire, but cambo was johnny on the spot with his flat repair kit. I didn't even have tuh toss the spare on!
