Transmission Cross Member

I was about to put in my new trans mount when I noticed a weld on the passenger side bracket. The cross member doesn't mount the same on both sides so I just want to make sure I have the right one. I can't find any pictures online.
Also, do you use the front or rear mount holes?
Thanks

Thanks. It looks like I need to open up the holes on the cross member so I can get the metal sleeves through it. It's 34 out now so I'll do it tomorrow.
Check out the difference in height on the two mounts. Old whatever was on there on the left. CPT on the right. I think this will move the angle of my t-case lever back so it doesn't touch the hood release in 4l.

Jeff,
what's the torque value on these bushings? I have them tightened up with several threads showing on each bolt. I don't want to over squish them.
Scratch that... Now that I dropped it off the jack stands I realized the metal bushing would be the stop.

In this picture the mount is installed wrong.

Is that how you installed the new mount? There should be a puck on either side of the crossmember. Tighten bolts down until the nut bottoms out on the sleeve.

That's the old mount. Not only installed wrong but the plate is taller. Compared to the unit I bought from you, it put my trans 1 1/4" higher.

I have a 74 Scout II that is getting a rebuilt 75 engine. My mechanic is a little concerned that a previous owner modified the transmission crossmember and mount. It seems like it's too far back. There are the 2 front engine mounts where they should be and the crossmember is bolted at the back end of the tranmission (which is automatic). It looks like there was a support close to where the engine bolts to the transmission. My question is, on the 74 auto trans. Scout, is the rear mount and crossmember supposed to be bolted to the rear of the tranny?

That's how mine is mounted. Take a look at my pics. The blue pan is the trans pan. The mount is to the rear of that pan. Not between it and the motor.

Whew! Thank goodness! I was worried the previous owner had chopped and welded to modify for the custom exhaust pipes they had installed. What was throwing us off was that there are 2 threaded holes in the transmission housing (closer to the front) that looks like something would go there. Maybe they use the same housing for automatics and those hole are not used for automatics?

Those threaded holes in the tf727 case are for fullsize pick-all mounting purposes. Completely different crossmember setup. But the cases were cast, drilled, tapped, and prayed over in the same manner so they could be installed in either vehicle platform, with the only differences being in output shaft and tailhousing selection during assembly.
