Tentative Trask wheeling trip Nov. 1 or 2

chris you stated earlier that your presence was doubtful. I understand completely. Do you want me to send that tranny with mayben so he can clean it up and check the seals?

Trev just bring whatever you like. Time is an issue for you so just get your azz up here.

That would be great -- then I can go to his place someday and pickup both the tranny and the axles.

Thanks!!!

Ok...based on right now...I'll be at monte's before noon on Saturday (with trailer). He has explicit instruction on how ta prep the roadkill donor, ain't no secrets in lightin' tha fire since it's electric! I'll brung sauce and whatever...we got some leftover official IHSTO place settings too and couplea rolls of paper towels so ya don't have to wipe mouth on yore sleeve.

Tranny can come down here and I'll do whatever prep work chris requests. I've seen the slushpump and it looks decent externally, since monte sez it'sa runner we'll go with that and just pull the maintenance on it??

So it sounds like we will have a fairly large turnout. As it stands right now we have 3 toys, a razor, 2 fullsize pu's, a really sweet fj, a couple of blazers, a few heeps, a couple of ramcharger's, and several scouts. :dita:

Holy crap! Is there enough trail for all those rigs? Or will we have to take turns?.....:dita:

Well if that's the case, I wish I still had my vw rabbit de-smell peekup. I used tuh wheel the dam cv joints of'n that thang. As long as ground clearance wasn't an issue, it did alright. I wuz always workin' on it though...kinda prepped me for vehicles I'd own later on in life...not naming any names.

Right now my rig is on jack stands with no diff covers, no dash, no wipers, and no steering column and im headed out the door dressed like napolean dynomite.....

Looks tasty, but unfortunately, me and pops aren't gonna make it up today, but will be hitting it early on Sunday. The engine is apart right now, and will be workin on getting that busted bolt out of the head, wish me luck!

Shocks, pegs, lucky!:winky:

Looks like im a no go. The stock thrust washers for the spider gears are to big to fit the tolerences of the locker, and if I dont use them the gap is to big, and nobody in town has the right size....

Next time guys.

(thats what I said the last 4 times:mad5: :mad5: :mad5: )

Ticka ticka no more! Put it all back together, dumped oil on the rockers, let it turn over for 3 10 sec intervals and fired it up. It was rattling like mad, but slowly quieted down to only 1 ticking lifter and then, nothing! :winky: put my brakes back together, bled them, and it seems to work. We will see in the morning. Putting all the finishing touches on, and assembling my offroad tool kit. Will be making the trek startin @ 5:30, which is actually 4:30!:dita:

Disappointed is just one word that I could use to describe the trail ride today.

Jenn(oregongirlscout) was taking it easy on her new axle set up. She pulled over to let the more experienced drivers by, then she was left in the dust. Every time we stopped at an intersection, someone would announce on the cb "all here!" so we motored on. We stopped once again for a bathroom break and I noticed jenn and terry were nowher to be found. Couldn't raise them on the cb. Then I realized the person claiming "all here!" was in the front of the line!

I turned around to try and find jenn and terry. I feared they might be lost because we had taken some turns. I stopped several hunters and asked if they had seen her rig. Taking clues from them, I figured she had just turned around and went back to the truck. By the time I got to the truck, they were loaded and ready to leave! Jenn was extremely disappointed that all her hard work to get her rig ready for the run was wasted. I was angry to see her sad, not to mention I lost a day of work, burned a 3rd of a tank of diesel, and wasted most of a Sunday.

Maybe the next one will turn out better.:(

Well, got home in one piece! Made the ol Scout work hard today, but managed to get through all that I pointed it towards. Had the lower radiator hose blow/loosen up and lost all my coolant on a hill climb, but made it. Since there is no steering column boot, I had coolant land in my lap, but wearing rain gear helps, even though I was inside my vehicle!:winky: spent a while getting mud out of everything and now have an electrical gremlin to sort out. Getting half power to my rear lights only but found the fuse that was powering it. Have to figure out what that powers.:icon_eh: had some fun and am amazed out what a stock Scout can do!:dita:

I hear ya dan. I think it's just the nature of large groups, paticularly when you've got different ideas of wheeling among the crowd; it's hard to keep it all together. My day was ok, got to do a few good runs and no mechanical issues. Maybe next time a smaller crowd or "squads" of a larger one. Seen that type of thing in the service. Small groups work better for these kind of forays.
You did the right thing and lost a day; but you earned a lot of respect in looking out for others, at least in my estimation.

Not all trips are gonna be perfect, but you and monte kept things okay.

I had a great time even though the run was a bit chaotic (to say the least!). For me it's all about hanging out with friends, tradin' bullshit lies, and food...the rest of the shit we can do any time, any where!

Dam good thang trev, cambo, and I didn't stay at monte's Sunday nite though (sumthin' in tha haid told me ta go home!), right after the two fatwhiteboyz left the casa this morning, I had to rush kathy to the er in springfield with possible coronary issues. I had told 'em she was bein' anti-social but turns out that was not the case!

She was admitted to a room finally tonite in the brand spanklin' new peace health riverbend facility so hopefully we'll know more tomorrow what is going on. Our primary care sawbones has taken over for now and she's stable tonite. I know from experience that the oregon heart and vascular institute is the place to be when ya got ticker issues (no offense monte!)!
