Hey y'all. Im in the process of making my Scout a daily driver. To that end I plan to swap out my 3.73 for 3.07s. Im ok with giving up low end for being able to run the highways without running 3000 RPM.
Ive read that my 72 has a Dana 30 fro t and Dana 44 Rearend. Before I go out and buy near Ring and Pinion Od like to be sure. The rear pumpkin has a tag that reads "41-1 3.73". Afterooking that up it said something about a Dana 41. Can someone educate me on the meaning of the tag.
Also, Id love some recommendations on where and how to go about acquiring said equipment.

Thanks In Advance.

The picture of the tag you posted is clearly not on an axle but the transfer case, which is a Dana 20. Regardless, all Scout II's from 1971 to 1980 had a Dana 44 rear axle in it, so unless someone has swapped your factory axle out for something else, then it will have a Dana 44.

What tire size are you running? You'll be fine with the taller gears on the pavement, but if you plan on doing much off roading, that's where you'll miss the lower gearing the most, especially with the auto trans.
