So I'm looking for advise on resurecting this engine. I know about recirculating the oil for the cam bearings and all that, thats not the issue. The vehicle in question is a mid 60s truck, doubting the engine is original but its possible since it isnt a dual sump from a scout. The problem is at some point it was canibalized for rockers and thus Mr. Previousowner didnt care enough to put the valve covers back on. As a result the oil is contaminated with godknowswat, water, dirt and cobwebs likely in there too. I cant really even check rotation because I dont want to circulate any of it. Since the valves are all closed and the spark plugs are all there I'm hoping the bores are ok. I guess the start point is a good way to flush the oiling system out. Any ideas? I will try to fish out a couple lifters later for an idea if theres alot of rust down there.
Also, on the dizzy, is that a delco-remy? My driver has one but I've never noticed the IH logo on it. Note the logo under/slight right of the condensor in the pic.
