Straight wire question

Hey guys, I am new to the site and have just bought a 69 800a. It had the body removed by the p.o. And I am trying to restore it to a daily driver/hunting vehicle. My question is this I am wanting to hear it run but the body and all is off so do any of you guys know the right way to straight wire this thing by making the coil hot, do I just run a wire from a battery to the hot side of the coil. I know how to cross out the starter . Also the condensor on the coil I don't know where the wire from it goes. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Welcome. If this still has a breaker points distributor, the power feed to the coil should go through a ballast or resistor wire. The points and coil can't handle full battery voltage for very long. If you're just going to fire it up for a quick minute and then shut it down, that might be okay, but if you're wanting to run it for longer, I wouldn't go direct from the battery. If it has an aftermarket electronic ignition swapped in or some time of points eliminator module like a pertronix, that's a different story. Just be sure to remove the jumper wire after you shut the engine off. The condensor-like item attached to the coil is an rfi noise suppressor to reduce engine electrical interference from coming through your state-of-the-art am sound system. It can be discarded, especially since you have the body off.
