stock shackle length?

I believe it has a 4" lift on it (SUA) due to it is running 33's and under normal driving and mild suspension flex it only rubs on the front fenders and full steering to one side or the other.

Anyway...the front shackle angle is vertical. I know a longer shackle should help to actuall angle the bottom of the shackle out some. I 'm not looking for much...just an actual angle would be nice compared to the vertical. Of course I've tried to talk my wife (it's soon to be her dd) to put it down to a 2" lift or even stock with 31's but she won't do it.

I don't know if it already has a longer than stock shackle on it..so knowing that will help me decide what to do. It handles fine on the road but I know the vertical shackle is harsh and I've actually inverted some before on my jeeps even just going over a good bump in the road.

Stock shackles are pretty short. 3-4" is about all they are. Have you looked into a reverse shackle conversion? That would do a lot more for you than extended shackles. Ihon sells the complete kits.

I've considered it but I don't really want to go down that route.

I've driven jeeps (short and long wheelbase) with shackle reversals and for offroad with a little dd it was ok...but I wouldn't want my wife to drive one every day.

I have also thought about some boomerang shackles but I have no real world experience with them.

Here's my pennies worth:
I have installed 2 shackle reversal kits on two of my own personal scouts. One being on my 74 Scout II that I drove 90% as a daily driver. And have driven on the rubicon and in hollister hills ohv park several times. Over all awesome. On the highway, after doing the shackle reversal, my Scout handle so much better than stock. Like night and day, along with comparing apples to lemons. Can we say cadillac on steriods. The kit also moves the front axle about 2" forward.
