steering pump for diesel engine

I just starteds turning wrenches on my 1978 traveller diesel(non-turbo). I noticed that the power steering pump was very misaligned due to a cross threaded bolt and some home spun spacer made of a socket hammered into a piece of rigid pipe ground to a tolerance of +/- 1/4". I was not impressed. Is the stock pump for diesels the same as gas scouts? It looks like a saginaw to me but that means nothing. Does the mount that pivots typically use a bolt in the front and a stud out the back? The bracket that has the slider bolt is home made as well. Any body know of a replacement source?

I'm not familiar with the sii diesel apps at all. But here is a partial scan of the parts list that shows the variations, use the first page to determine which figure number to use. Keep in mind, these IH-produced documents many times have "generic" line art and May not represent any single part correctly!

I went to napa auto and got the one that was for the 196, 304 and 345 and it worked. I reused my old resivor and so far so good. I still wouldn"t mind obtaining the factory mounting hardware and bracket if any has and leads? Thanks for the help.

The Nissan powerd scouts use the same power steering pump and alot of GM or Chevy trucks and cars....and the way it was bolted to the Nissan along with the alt is realy weird and I found uses up belts like crazy....I have a set or maybe two of the orig bracket set that if I can find them u pay postal and u can have em

Yea, thats a sweet deal. I could send you a check or maybe I could pay at the p.o. Or ups office or ? On the stud that the pump pivots on, I'm missing a spacer. If you have a source for this also, I'd be stoked. Thank you old smokey
