I just starteds turning wrenches on my 1978 traveller diesel(non-turbo). I noticed that the power steering pump was very misaligned due to a cross threaded bolt and some home spun spacer made of a socket hammered into a piece of rigid pipe ground to a tolerance of +/- 1/4". I was not impressed. Is the stock pump for diesels the same as gas scouts? It looks like a saginaw to me but that means nothing. Does the mount that pivots typically use a bolt in the front and a stud out the back? The bracket that has the slider bolt is home made as well. Any body know of a replacement source?
