snow/ice trutracs front and rear

Hello, with all the snow we have had in the east, I have had my Scout on some nasty roads all week. I have eaton truetracs front and rear. My Scout is a weekend driver, mostly road, but I do some medium four wheeling on occasion. I love the ls truetracs off road, but have had some issues on snow and ice road conditions. I expected my Scout to handle with ease, but I noticed a lot of drift and instability especially in corners. Now don't get me wrong, she had no problem going anywhere and I actually helped a few other 4x4 vehicles get going again. My question is this. Is having a truetrac ls up front causing the problems I explained, or should I have put an ARB or elocker up front and ran open diffs while traversing winter condition roads?

Thanks

I'm not familiar with the trutrack and how aggressive the clutches are, but I've heard that a locker in the front can cause handling issues while cornering on a slick road surface. I've heard of some folks unlocking one hub to help combat this issue while negotiating corners. I have a spartan locker in my fa, but haven't driven much on slick surfaces with it, so this is third hand hearsay. Take it with the appropriate grain of salt.

A front locker keeps both wheels turning at about the same speed. So when turning on slick roads the rig wants to go straight to a degree depending on the clutch engagement. Thats your " drift". Disengaging one hub will eliminate that problem. Thats why front lockers are never factory installed.
