Sierra Scouts 2.0????

Dear IH community,

many of you May remember the Sierra Scouts International Harvester(IH) club of northern, CA. The club existed from 1994 through 2003 with a peak membership of 75-80 families that enjoyed activities and events related to their IH vehicles.

With the successful production of the IH Sierra Fall Rallye, with help by many of the former Sierra Scouts founding members, new enthusiasm and faces were asking to get the club going again. They have decided that the name will be Sierra Scouts 2.0.

The original Sierra Scouts was founded in the dark ages of today's internet, before google and facebook. They printed and mailed newsletters at great expense and had little reach outside northern California and Nevada.

With a web presence, Sierra Scouts 2.0 will be both an online club, and a location based club for meetings. IH Parts America will be glad to donate the shop space for meetings
in Grass Valley, California or we can have them at any other location that will be nice. I also still have the original domain - sierrascouts.com in which we could build a new site.

Sierra Scouts 2.0 will have membership details soon and will be open to any International Harvester vehicle or artifact. We hope for the club to be self governing with very basic bylaws with a throw it in the hat concept when funds are needed. This club will need the active support of its members to keep it alive.

So who else is with us?

I will volunteer me, myself, and I. I will try and be more active once I get mobile with one of my scouts

Right on guys(and gals)! Keep them coming!

As for a facebook page I do want to do one but no I haven't started anything yet. But this is what this posting is about. If you want to take the lead on developing the page and help maintaining it that is what this discussion is about. Getting locals to volunteer time to get this club going again.

Good memories of Sierra Scouts, would love to help out anyway I can. I wonder if they would open up bassi falls once a year to us :icon_wink:

3 of 4 members of the chapman family are in. The 4th May come around if we actually did something fun and family oriented with the Scout. Then maybe she would stop listing it on craigslist when I'm out of town.

That last bassi run was fun, wasn't it? Who has that group shot of all the scouts assembled at the base of the falls?

We have it here at the shop on the wall. I went by a couple years ago and took all the photos off the pizza factory wall. Then when we finished the shop we hung them all up here.
