Scout II shifter cable clamp question

I have a automatic shifter and all hardware from a Scout II that I am installing in a pickup. The bracket on the transmission that the shifter cable clamps too.....does the cable go on the inside of that bracket or the outside? It will go either way, which way is correct? Thanks for any help.
 
I believe for alignment purposes, the cable belongs on the inside of the bracket. Sii shifter in a pick 'em up huh? That's interesting. How clean is your install? Will it look almost faktree original when you get done? Was this a 4-speed truck that you've converted to auto, or was the stock column shifter just fubar?
 
Its a perfect fit , it looks like factory no mods required. Will add pics later. Took out a 5 spd direct trans. Thanks
