Has anyone chromed an early Scout grill? Has anyone put a late model chrome grill on an early Scout? I like the look of the later grills. I'd like to do something similar on my '73.
By early Scout, I assume you're talking early sii as opposed to the 80/800 models, which are the true early scouts. Sii grilles are essentially interchangeable. 1975 was the last year for metal grilles. Just about any metal part can be chromed if one wants to shell out the coin. None come to mind, but I'd be surprised if it hasn't been done at least once by someone. The '76-'79 grilles are all plastic and the '80 grille is some type of composite if I'm not mistaken. It is the only year to have square headlights as opposed to round. The non-metal grilles are susceptible to breakage, sun rot, and peeling of the chrome plating layer if applicable. The earlier metal offerings are naturally more durable.
Yes, I meant Scout II. I'm new to this whole "Scout thing".
I figured it shouldn't be a monumental task to put the later chrome grill on. I don't care for the plastic aspect though. I think I will price getting the metal one chromed. Anyone have a picture of one on the vehicle?
