Santa Cruz intro

I made the post, so we’ll see what happens.

• I assume we’ll probably meet at your shop?
• what do you want to do?
• what do you see happening? The work day is always a good ice breaker.

How do we find trucks in the area?
• contact some of the local general 4x4 clubs?
• I have an 8½ x 11 babs flyer with stand for the local 4x4 and/or auto parts shops, etc.
• a craigslist monterey post is a must.

Im down to do what ever we can meet here we are super busy at shop and dont have enough parking at the moment
I think we only have one 4x4 club and im good friends with the local 4x shop so I can start there
 
Pick a Saturday to meet in January or February and we'll build on that.

it seems to be a losing battle for me, but we'll make a special pitch for an IH swap meet.
 
Ok great mayby we shall just trow a bbq first to meeet everyone that can make it and see who we have around here I know where a few scouts live here in town but I know there not on this fourm ill try poking around in the pirate 4x4 IH fourm
 
A bbq it is. We’ll pass the hat to cover lunch and munchies.

When do you want to do it? What do you think about sat feb 4?
It’s a month past the holidays and this will give some time to spread the word.
I’m surprised that many people posted up in the open forum. That’s a good sign.

I’ll have all the usual stuff with me to be raffled off: ihon gift cert, mugs, keyrings, wraps, and other swag.

Give me your address and I will send you some cards and stickers in the mail.

Are there parts stores that you are friendly with that you can set up a display?
It would be cool to set up something in scott’s valley and felton. Napa, I think.
 
There is alot of parts stores but I dont know most of em I just call for parts and most the folks that work at them all dont know a dam thing about vehicles so ill contact the local 4x4 store in town se if he will put up a display I can also try some friends other shops see if threay can do some displays or if theay ever work on IH vehicles or know anyone.what kind of displays are theay just like flyer type deals I still need to see if my bbq works in the back if not ill find a new one I will need to ok the whole bbq or meetup thing with the boss he owns the whole shop so...
 
Also depends on how full my shop is with vehicles from work, during the winter we get packed with cars from wrecks. I know we can all meet up here im always down for road rallys or cruzin but meeting here for a central location is all good plus it gives me a chance to get rid of a bunch of parts.we also have many resturants for a dinner type meeting like we do in fremont. I would rather stay here because of my situation you know but it May have to be an event type deal I dont know really
 
The park in felton dont have much parking but it depends on how many of us are gonna be wherever we go so.... Meeting here first is all good. There are beach parks and boardwalk has plenty of room and a bowling ally im just throwing ideas out there. Here would be great at my shop but at the moment were busy so its kinda totally up in the air on how much space I will have
 
So what do you think would be a good type of location there is a park right down the street from my shop and there are alot of food places as o now the bbq thing is a good idea but I dont think it can happen unless shop is not busy
 
Ok jan 21st works for me. I got ahold of mountain mikes pizza and theay have a tv in the room, but no dvd player. It holds 25 people and no fees, just reserve the room and order pizza and beer or what not. Let me know if this works out for yall or we can meet at shop or just meet at pizza place I dont mind either way its just down the street from my shop I will know more the closer we get to the date if the shop is gonna be busy as of now we are empty and could hold alot of people here but got nothing to do but hang out :confused:

Meet n greet at the pizza place. An after party at your shop can develop.

Can we hook up our own dvd player?

I'll bring some swag to raffle off. I have a gift cert from Jeff to also raffle off.

Someone has one to loan. No biggie.

Ordering pizza’s? Shoot, we’ll play that by ear.

For starters:
-we have a time and date, sat jan 24 at 1:00
-we have a location, just needs to be reserved. 2 hours ought to do.
-you need to start an announcement thread.
-will everyone be responsible for their own pizza? Or will we pass the hat and make a group buy?
-rather than passing the hat to help fund this gig, we can do a 50/50 raffle. The gift cert and babs swag will do for prizes. I have tickets.
-it would be cool to pick up a “sponsor” for this.
-I sent you a sample craigslist post to tinker with.

That ought to get things rolling. We’ll play it by ear and see what happens.
 
Ill foot the bill on this one, on the food but beer will be all by your own beer so we are set jan 21 at 1:00 I just reserved the place were good to go
 
I dont got nothing to give away but I will have some used parts to get rid of if anyone is in need of anything well meet at shop afterwards and yes I will pay for the food unless others wanna chip in and help fund this thing
