Rallye Caravan?

Bill usn-1 post up on another forum asking about a caravan to the Sierra Fall Rallye.

We are leaving on Thursday, the 8th. Will probably spend a night somewhere in between; hotel, b&b, etc, since we are trailering the 80 to the show behind the dodge. Hope to be close enough to the rallye so we can arrive late Friday morning. Not much of a plan, but that is all it is right now.

Post your plans here and we'll see if we can put something together.

Lyle

We still haven't locked in on a travel plan, nor which tow rig to use. We will do that by Tuesday though and post up.

Ok, as of last nite, our rallye travel plan is locked.

We're gonna leave here noonish or sooner on Wednesday the 7th and drive 'til we find a log landing to pull up on and park for the nite.

Goin' down 97 to k-falls, cut down 39/139 thru tulelake, bieber, past lake almanor, and then quincy. Then blairsden, sierra city, downieville to dobbins. We'll be at lake francis sumtime Thursday afternoon so we can assist in show setup.

After the show, we'll stay in Grass Valley/Loomis for another week or so until we wear out our welcome.

The 'rango is gonna have to do the duty this time, the beater truck goes under the knife (the bed/cap comes off) on Saturday for a long-term exhaust system and axle upgrade/winter project.

I know mikes driving the firetruck and im hauling uber down, not sure what time or when, you'll have to consult the prez for that. Looking foreward to the trip though, even if I do have to drive 45mph behind the firetruck for 11 hours:rolleyes5:

Didn't "uber Mike" say we were leaving Thursday?

we?!? So your coming now? I like your attitude!

He better be. I cleaned all the crap out of the back seat for his fat ass. :dita:

we will be leaving Thursday morning. But we are going straight to cisco grove to be ready to wheel fordyce at 8am the next morning.

The son is due in the 6th so we are hoping to be on the road the 7th. Planning on towing a little popup.

How far is fordyce from the rallye?

Is the local trail run locked in or just the street run?

Not sure about the local run. Fordyce is a bit over an hour from the rallye. It is 63 miles. :icon_cool:

Check the rallye thread for the local run. I think they are going to have both a street run and a mild fire road type run. Better to post up and ask though.

Most of the guys going down there use the delta shift trail rating system. That is, the difference in the shape of your overall envelope at the end of the ride as compared to the beginning defines the level of a trail ride. If there is no difference from the end to the beginning then that is a delta shift of 0. And for those guys, if there is no damage then it wasn't a trail ride. :ciappa:

It is official, the hospital can do without me for a few days. How long is it going to take us to get that firetruck down there?

Right on!!! I figure if you start driving it on Wednesday about noon. Dan and I will catch you about Thursday at noon. :ciappa:

Hey Mike - whats the plan with the firetruck when you get down here? I know you're wheeling fourdyce. Are you dropping the truck off at lake francis or my place before the show or are you actually wheeling fourdyce with it?:ciappa:

Well my original plan was to go straight to cisco grove with it and park it at the camp site while we wheel. Then drive on in to lack francis either Friday night or Saturday morn. However wheeling it might be fun. We could see what 6.77 gears do on the trail. :ihih:

I could maybe drop it at the lake first or at your place. Which would you prefer? Are you in Grass Valley?

I would say drop it off at my place but I would like to see it at the show. Plus I can use it to tow my car trailer home on Sunday. Maybe I can arrange to have an extra driver on hand and meet you at hwy 20 and marysville rd where you'll be going by. This depends on what time you're going by there.

Alright, now I'm thinking of reversing my original route and going to dobbins first. Dropping off the fire truck and then heading on to cisco grove. I'm also thinking of taking I-5 the whole way down insted of 97. So if meeting up at hwy 20 and maryville rd would cut some time off of my trip to cisco grove I'm all for it.

Not sure how you planned to get to cisco grove once you come down out of klammath falls but once you do get to I-5 take hwy99 out of red bluff down into yuba city. From there you'll hit hwy 20 thru marysville on thru Grass Valley and on to cisco grove. While passing thru you could easily stop at dobbins to dump the fire truck off. When I go to the bee I use this same route back home to gv.
