Question on Knobs....

Hello,
before I break something, is there some trick to getting the knobs off the light switch and hood release? I see what looks like a filled in small hole, is there a screw down in there or do I just need to keep pulling on these things till they pop off?

I believe there is a set screw in there, at least there is on the 800.

Light switch --

there should be a "spring-loaded" "button" on the "top" (metal cover) of the switch. On IH, the switch May be mounted such that the button is pointing to the floor -- if you can bend yourself into position to look behind the dash.

Pull knob out (turning the headlights on); then, depress the button and the knob / shaft should pull out of the headlight switch.

Hood latch -- do not know -- look for a small set screw...?

Okay,
light knob, out with no problems! Hood release....not so much....looks like I will be ordering one from Jeff, there was no set screw in there, just some grey crap that looked alot like jb weld, now its in little pieces.

It all started with the simple "I think ill replace the wiper switch" and this is where it is now......
