Question fitting my gauges

Ok I got a new gauge kit from IHPA and I have cut the dash so the round gauges will fit but have ran into a problem getting the speedo & tach to fit. They are too deep and hit the metal pictured below...it looks like it holds the steering column? Any suggestions/help would be great:d

Oops picture is sideways not sure how to fix that either :d

For the pic orientation, just use whatever basic photo viewing software you have on your pooter to rotate the image and save it before you upload it to this site. You will need to perform a nip/tuck on the protruding frame metal to clear the larger gauges. You shouldn't need to take too much material.
