I just at the end of my rope with my 74 Scout too dont know what else to do but park it till I can get help.
The problem is it will run part grate. When I first time trying to move it after its been sitting for a wile I can drive it for about a 1/16 of a mile give or take a little and then all it dose is spitts spuders and dies.
Its a 345 with new Holley 2300 350cfm, a Holley el fule pump, new points, condinser, spark plugs gaped at .35, new wires, new fuel filter , 2 month old starter, 2 month ols altanter got to get replace due to bearings going out in it.
Just dont know what to do now its just been sitting in the feild and need to get it back on the trail. Would like to even get and help thanks for reading and any tips that might help out.

Did you set the point gap for 28 to 32 degrees? That will be about 18/1000. Be sure to use the 'lube' that ususlly is supplied in a small pill shape container on the distributor cam so the rubbing block of the points has some 'slickum' where it rides against the cam. Apply one drop of clean oil to the pivot of the points and 2 drops of clean motor oil to the felt pad under the rotor. Set the base timeing at idle speed = ~550 for stick or 750for auto trans, with the vacuum line to the advance can on the dist disconnected and plugged so there is no vacuum leak. Try +6 deg to start. Make sure the vacuum advance does work by watching the timing Mark change as vacuum is applied to the advance can. Requires a timing light connected to the #8 plug wire! That will be rear on passenger side.
I have had problems with the currently available condensers. Might get another one to have on hand.
Currently in ohio.

We need to know if the original cloth insulated resistance wire is still intact and connected to the coil + terminal.
