You do not say what kind of p/s pump trouble...

You do not say which size tires you have...

Some people add a "hydro boost system"...

If you search this site, you should find a couple threads on the subject.

I do not know if "hydro boost" will solve your problem or fall into the "reasonable price" category.

Pictures of the mounting of the power steering pump / steering box May help -- do not think 800's came with p/s, but I am sure many have added it to one.

Sorry bout that. I'm running 35's. And it just won't turn for anything on the rocks. Just lookin to see if there is a better pump or a trick that I can use to modify this one.

The GM style ps pump that came on sii's is adequate for stock size tires, but once you surpass 33", it's major weaksauce. As far as affordability goes, the larger, round body pump/res that came oe on the full size pickalls is a much more robust unit. It utilizes a completely different bracket which locates it higher up and closer to the valve cover on that side, with a different belt that runs off a different pulley. Being that yours is an 800, you May have a little more underhood clearance than on an sii. I plan on making this switch real soon on my Scout as I have all the necessary parts. I will likely have to overcome a minor clearance issue with a hood support on that side, but not a biggy. Why IH chose to go with that little crapball in the sii's when they had a better option available is just another one of those binder head scratchers.
