I have had to remove and try and work on my model 11 (T39) transmission in my 69 800A a couple of times now. Anyone who has one of these jewels knows that there are No Parts Available anywhere. Let me get back on topic.

I am installing a Tourqe Flight 727 removed from a 76 Scout 2 and boIting it too an sv304. I have all the parts needed for the install that I know of. Torque converter, flywheel, ring gear, tranny etc. My question is. Does anyone who has completed this change over in the past, have any advice they would like to share that would make this install a little easier to prepare for, before I start.
 
Do you also have the throttle valve linkage aka kickdown rod? Those are vital to the longevity of a 727. Your drive shaft length is likely to be affected by this swap. Maybe not enough to need modification? I don't know. I've only done this trans swap in a 1210 RWD pickup, not a Scout 800. Just mentioning it as a potential to watch out for.
 
I do have the kick down rod. I hear that it will have to be modified in order to work. Not sure on exactly how. I am assuming downward in order to fit, not sure. I will post my findings on that issue. I have heard that the driveshafts will fit. I have also heard that they will need to be modified. This to I will post my findings. I have also been told by the supplier that the cross member has to be trimmed and moved forward. Re-drilled and bolted. Not sure there either.
 
I have a friend who did this very swap in his Scout 800A many years ago and I do now recall that he did in fact have to do some stuff to the cross member. Hopefully you also got the D20 t-case from the same Scout II. There's a difference in gear angle pitch between the earlier D20's from the S800's and those from the later SII's. While your early D20 will mate up to the 727, this gear angle pitch difference over time will cause performance issues and premature wear/failure of the case. You'll for sure want to get a SII D20 in there along with the 727.
 
I do have a D20 T-case. I have adapted it to the BW tranny with an output gear on the BW side. I was told that there would be a gear on the 727 output side that would mate with the D20. Thanks for the heads up. I will try and see if I can check the gear pitch angle before install, or afterwards. I looked at the output gear, no measurements or anything and it looks close. I’m going to start to this project Saturday. I should be able to get some measurements Sunday. That’s the plan anyway.
 
No. I trashed the original tc145. I purchased the D20 and the bull gear from IHPA. I believe it is from a Scout 2. Not sure on the year. I can look back at my history and find out, maybe. Let me look.
 
Well that's good being from a SII. It should mesh fine with the 727 provided you have the auto bull gear is attached to the adapter housing.
 
Hum, I didn’t see anything in my history. It looks just like the input gear I’m using on the BW tranny right now.

As long as you are using the matched bull-gear. There are a few different angle pitches of the gears throughout the years of production.
 
Thank you, for the info. I will look at the gearing numbers and see what I can find. I have a lot of work to do getting to that point. First I have to get the BW boat anchor out. I did go through all the TF 727 parts. Looks like I have the throttle plate, kick down rod, flywheel, ring gear, Harmonic balancer, shifter, cable, floor plate, tranny, dip stick tube, all the bolting.

Im going to have to fab a stand for the cable mounting location. Not sure what is in the Scout ll for that. Have never seen one. What I have in the 800 looks home fabbed. Not great but it is there with a cable clamp. I will also have to fab up a cooling system. I plan on mounting a cooler in front of the radiator and plumb the lines along the frame. I need to wire a neutral safety switch in. Any info on that would be greatly appreciated. If anyone can think of something I’m missing, please let me know. Thanks to all.
