I recently picked up a 1979 Scout 2. It had been in a field for a couple yrs. Did all the usuals, drained fuel, plugs, checked wiring for breaks, etc etc. Put a new battery in and no power at all? Any suggestions????? Help!

Think of your power flow like a river or stream. The battery is the source. Each and every junction downstream from there has the potential to be a deal breaker and must be verified good thru testing. Just looking isn't good enough. The first junction is at the starter mounted solenoid. You need an el cheapo 12v incandescent probe with alligator clip ground. Probe your battery across the terminals to make sure the light lights. Then probe your large terminal at the solenoid. Keep working down stream from there all the way into the cab. Keep in mind that poor grounds are responsible for 80% of all electrical issues. Brand new batteries that aren't worth shit to begin with or haven't been fully charged account for the remaining 20%. Your solution will lie somewhere within those margins.
