Need help/info on AFI throttle linkage

Does anyone have any pictures or information on throttle linkage for a afi TBI system? I have a 79 traveller 345 with automatic transmission. Since the kickdown rod is important I want to make sure what ever I fabricate is correct.

See attached picture of what I have to work with.

You need to remove the existing stud on the throttle arm and replace it with the one from your original carb. Since your rig was originally a 4bbl, which puts the attachment point farther forward, you'll want to remove the adjustable stop from in the slot on the link. That is the way the 2bbl rigs were set up.

Here's one that was just brought to me to get it straightened out.

Note the heater hose running over the top of the cable. The cable is much lower then the tb attachment. The kick down arm is on the same side as the throttle and is hitting and bending then throttle cable when the throttle is opened.

First I made a spacer for the bracket out of a piece of 1/2" alum. If you don't have any I have used large nuts as spacers before.

Then I removed both original studs with an angle grinder. I just ground the flared end on the back side and wiggled with some pliers.

Then I used a 10/32 screw and cut a short piece of brake line to use as a spacer in the hole. I used a self locking nut on the back side.
The spacer should be just long enough to keep the linkage from binding together with the arm.

The throttle ball stud is from autozone. It comes in a Holley carb linkage kit with several styles in one pack.

Now the linkage is more inline and will not hit the throttle cable.

And all is better and works free of binding.

Thanks bill, great pictures.

Loos like I need to chase down a new manfold bracket. Since mine was originally for a 4bbl it is not inboard enough to line up with the TBI connections and has no adjustment bolts like the one in your photo.

If anyone has a suggestion on where to find one? I'll try IHOnly first...

I used a Holley 4150 style throttle bracket from big end performance, try smileys over in kennedale, right off of 287 on the left going south. Have all kinds of goodies.
